What do you enjoy about the work you do?

I love what I do for a couple of reasons. First, I love meeting the people I get to meet. They come from many different backgrounds and experiences. I love getting to hear their stories and getting to know their businesses. Secondly, I love creating. I like the process. I like that each project is different. I like seeing the transformation from a discussion to an idea and seeing that idea take shape and then to be able to sit back and look at the finished product.

    When I started my website design project I knew one of the biggest challenges was going to be around content. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Project pricing varies based on scope and requirements. Our projects range from $1500 to $5000+.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Our first conversation will be around goals and objectives for the project. Next, we create an "ideal customer profile." This helps us understand who it is you are trying to attract and gives us a basis for content and design ideas. We then outline some possible website pages and site structure. The next step is to create the content. Once the content has been developed we begin designing and building the website. While every project is different, we keep this same starting process across all our projects.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a self-taught web designer and have been designing website for more than 15 years. It first started as a hobby and then I turned my passion into a full-time business. My marketing certifications are from HubSpot, located in Boston. HubSpot creates a marketing automation software. They also introduced a more modern form of marketing called, Inbound.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Website design was a hobby and I fell in love with it. Then I fell in love with digital marketing and it was a natural blend. I believe that the best websites are the ones that are built upon a strong marketing foundation. As a result I started my own company.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have had the honor of working with a variety of customers. We have worked with local retail and restaurants, life coaches, the city of Dublin, healthcare, manufacturing, and the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I had the honor of working again with a client who was literally our second client back in 2009. Over the years we have developed a great friendship and I continued to help her with marketing and website work for her business. She recently wrote and launched a book and I was able to work on the website for the book. It was a great experience. The project lasted a few months and we launched the website back in May of 2017.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
At times we get calls from potential clients who have been burned by other design companies. They threw down a lot of money and in the end they did not get what they expected to get. Here are some things you can and should do when going about choosing a design company. 1. Ask for references or read reviews. 2. Check the BBB to see if any complaints have been filed against the company. 3. Ask them to show you some of their work. 4. Never work without a signed contract. And read the contract to make sure you understand what you are getting yourself into. Following these steps will help reduce your risk of getting ripped off.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
You will want to know what the process looks like. Ask about expectations on both sides. Think through what your goals are for your project. What are you trying to achieve? What parts of the project can you handle and what do you need to pass on to the professional. Can your project be done virtually or does it require in-person meetings. What are the payment terms? How to go about cancelling a project? Are there refunds? Who owns the rights to the work? These questions should give you a great start.
