We hired Matt to install beveled subway tile onto our kitchen walls. We see the finished product and was the sloppiest work I have ever seen. The bottom of the tile on top of the countertop had gaps of some grout and then no grout alternating throughout the kitchen, there was also grout stuck in globs on the counter top (first picture). Then, all around the window sill were tiles that were completely cut uneven, were all different sizes and nothing was done to even try and cover it up (second picture). Next, when grouting near the bottom of the cabinets he left smears of grout on most of the cabinets (third picture). Finally, every appointment we had (the initial quote, the first day, and the second day) he was late by an hour, and complained the two days he was working because he had to make too many cuts. His work was sloppy, and clearly not detailed oriented, we will never work with him again.Dec 20, 2018VerifiedRenewal Remodeling Plumbing & Repair's reply
Kevin what you are saying is inaccurate. Let me start by saying the two days that were set. The first I was on time. And getting tools out on site doesn’t make me late. The 2nd day there was a accident on 90 and made me late by 30 minutes. Now where the tiles meet the countertop a bead of caulk can go there smooth and even. Even though most places are filled. And the cuts your wife approved as I called her in to approve them. You wanted beveled tiles with no finishing end..... I asked did you want a finished end going around the window you said no. What does a beveled tile look like cut into half? UNFINISHED I told you what it would look like. Now final thing the grout. I told your father that I’ve cleaned up which it was definitely clean like the first day I left. But tell them, you to call me if I need to come and clean more. I always clean after myself all my customers know this. But grout could leave a haze that can’t be seen until it’s dry the only thing to do is wipe with a towel or sponge with haze remover or clean water. And if you seen some issues with any grout period it may have happened while it was drying. But that’s neither her nor there because if you’ve voiced these concerns to me I could of done something to rectify whatever the issues may have been although exaggerated I would of came back and resolved it. That’s what business and consumer do. So what does a person sound like that go exaggerate some minor issues with some grout leave the lowest review possible online. And doesn’t call the person to see if they can meet their needs and resolve the concerns. Not cool kev not cool. Didn’t see the pics either. Nothing wrong with the tiles. I’ll post pics though

If I can give more stars, I would. Matthew has been a pleasure to work with. I have used him on two projects so far. My clients absolutely love him. He is true professional and you can see how much he cares about his craft. Highly recommend.Oct 31, 2018Verified

Don’t waste your time with this guy ... will come out and give you a quote then will not want to do the job.. just go someplace else to start and stay awayOct 28, 2019VerifiedRenewal Remodeling Plumbing & Repair's reply
Hello Charles. Sorry you felt like you’ve wasted your time. Considering you are a 3rd party contractor sub contracting others to do work for you. You didn’t get in your car, drive, pay tolls, meet me nothing that requires your time. I feel the only time you’ve wasted was marking me as hired (which technically I was never hired) and leaving a fictitious review. What actually happened was you reached out. I was charged. I responded promptly. You told me you wanted me to go to this site and meet with a guy that worked there. I was kind enough to squeeze this FREE ESTIMATE between two jobs I had scheduled already... you asked for pictures and a price. I emailed them to you. Meanwhile I was contacted by a repeat customer to do a kitchen and bath remodel 7 hours away from your site. You contacted me the next day asking when can we schedule. (Meaning I was never hired) I made you aware that I was hired to take on a remodel I’m no where near the site. I cannot schedule. Versus looking for another contractor you can sub contract. You decided to harass me as if I work for you or I am forced to work for you. If we never scheduled the actual job I am under no obligation to prioritize a work slot for you my friend that wants to slander my name so badly. Work is preformed as it is scheduled.

Although he was quick to come and get the job done right, he had some personal issues that were a problem and he inferred that he quote the job too low as though I was going to pay him more. I found the job to be minor and was content with the amount I paid.Sep 6, 2019VerifiedRenewal Remodeling Plumbing & Repair's reply
Hello Paula. Thanks for the feedback but I’m not understanding what’s being stated. I came out quoted the job. We set a date. I arrived on time to preform the work. Completed the work and you Used Venmo as payment. What I’m not understanding is the personal issues part and the part where I said I quoted the job too low. I never once asked for more money or implied that the job should cost more. Anyone who used me would say my quote is my quote. If I under bid the job I eat the cost. I never once went above what I quoted. The scope of the work was run a gas line from the garage through the cinderblock down and around the walls and put on a shut off valve. Not only did I perform the work. I took the time to install the actual dryer unit to the newly ran plumbing which was not part of the initial job. If I new the job was going to be 3 stars I would of passed. But not only I give a fair price to run a gas line which the price could of been double if not triple had a former company have quoted it. I did more than what I was expected. Whenever you’re getting a job done for an incredible rate and completed properly it’s kind of a slap in the face to give such a low rating.

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I price very fair. What I usually do is base my pricing off the major plumbing companies and basically split the price in half.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Find out what there issues is. Assess and properly diagnose the problem. Give them options prices and recommendations. If they like I start work right away
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I’ve worked with 3 different plumbing companies. And also I have 9 years oh home rehabilitation experience
