AJ and his coworker did a really nice job on installing this range hood with an exhaust vent. He had some issue to get the 6’’ hole saw from an online retailer for this specific task and it turned out not work as expected. But anyway, AJ managed to make it work. And the result is satisfying. Would recommend to anyone who needs range hood installed.

Herico's team did a great job for me. I never knew him before hand so I took a little chance but I was very happy with their work. They did some outside painting and changed some rotten boards for me. The paint job was very good. So was the edge work and a clean work site when they finished. And all for a reasonable price.

I never had a water problem ever in 50 years. I never used my insurance. I was referred to Rob from my plumber at Jolly Plumbing. I was so worried about everything. Rob assured me I was in good hands. After our meeting with the adjuster Rob done everything he told me. Also doing soon dry wall, painting and flooring. I will not hesitate to call Rob again in the future.

For those of you that had cleaning services to compare Another Clean House to, I didn't - this was my first time hiring someone to clean my 8 BR, 4 B house on the river. I left them to clean and I came back an hour and a half later, and the cleaning crew was still at it even though the paid time had elapsed. I was very pleased with how my apartment looked. My appliances were shining, the floor was spotless, my blinds were dusty no more and they cleaned under and around every piece of furniture. I even noticed dust that was removed my lighbulbs making the room BRIGHTER! The area of my place I was most pleased with was the bathroom. They really cleaned every nook and cranny. It looked so great I didn't want to step in my shower for fear of getting it dirty! I will for sure be signing up for a monthly cleaning from Another Clean House. Thank you Tonna and your expert team!!

We had a water leak in the kitchen that ended creating a project that included: removing an old range, cutting some cabinets to fit the new range, patching, painting and wall papering. After no luck with reliability with another contractor, we tried Thumbtack and found Jerry. What a blessing in disguise that the others were flakes- he has been terrific! If you read other reviews and think, "This guy is too good to be true," don't worry; he isn't! He is just a rare breed! Where to start....first, he was very fair and reasonable on the price. Apparently there is an industry standard pricing guide that set process high (hence the sticker shock with everyone else). If he feels that it is unreasonable, he works down from there. His rate was reasonable enough that we could add in changing the title on our backsplash. But this does NOT mean quality is sacrificed. He is more than experienced and it shows. He is extremely neat (never leaves a mess), and his work is careful. A true generalist, he has ended up helping us with other problems that ironically occurred while he was here. I asked him to remove the sink for me so that I could apply some stone finishing to our counters, and he saw that our wiring for our disposal and dishwasher was not up to code (and it wasn't!). He fixed that. Our basement had water in it after rain one night; he helped up trouble shoot where the leak was coming from (it was from a crazy odd place, but he helped our insurance adjuster to find the leak! Our adjuster liked him too, btw). He also fixed a support on our porch that was cracking. From drywall to roofs, he is a household renaissance man. He really went beyond the call of duty for us, and was never, ever "pushy". To top it off, he is very kind, friendly and honest. A couple of days he needed an extra set of hands and brought a couple of workers with him, who were also neat, skilled and polite. I could go on but you get the picture! ;-) My father was extremely handy this way and always did anything around the house with skill, care and integrity. I didn't know anyone else was cut from the same cloth until we met Jerry. If you are lucky enough to grab him, do so.

Chuck and crew did a fantastic job on my 30+ year old deck. They power washed (and snuck in washing the deck furniture) before staining. This project will give me several additional years with the current deck -- I appreciate it's prolonged life. Deck came out as I was told it would, great value for the work. The crew was on time and very professional. I was called daily for a progress report. I would definitely use CPR again for any future projects. Great team!!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
