Guy has been walking my dog Stella for about 3 weeks. He had saved me many times whether it being last minute calls, or my dog getting skunked and he saved me! I can't thank Guy and his services enough. They are 100% reliable and I would strongly recommend you give him a shot. He is great with my dog and even sends pictures and snap chats! He is the best in Ohio!

Mary is a wonderful person. My dog Sam took to her right away. She is attentive and aware of SAMs needs. I will be using her to watch h a week while I go on vacation.

Shelly, of Tailwaggers Dog Walking & Pet Sitting, gets 8-paws way up in the air from my two dogs, Olympia and Ramona. My dogs adore her ... I can tell because when I get home after a night of "Shelly-wagger's visits" my grrrrrlz run around the house searching for their 2nd mom. Shelly leaves incredibly descriptive notes after each visit (and she also includes the time of the day or night of her visits). She has acclimated herself to my dogs' quirks (one has to be "conned" off the back porch when it is raining, while the other has to be tricked and bribed with lots of love to come inside from the rain!). I am so thankful that I have met Shelly of Tailwaggers Dog Walking & Pet Sitting. I completely trust that each time I leave for the night that my grrrrlz are in great and loving hands!

We are still working with Amanda and our dog, but so far the experience has been great! She drives to our home which is super convenient....and it makes the most sense since this is where the issues take place. Her initial free assessment was thorough and she really took the time to hear what we had to say. Through this, she figured out the underlying issue. Amanda went above and beyond for us. Our dog, Loretta, has been having difficulty with small children and tugging on clothing, etc. Amanda ordered a child-sized mannequin online and left it with us to assist with our training. She was always prompt, or if running late due to traffic, would shoot us a text to let us know. She is pretty flexible with her schedule and is always accommodating. So far it's been an enlightening experience and we look forward to more sessions in the future. We went past the initial 5 we paid for because we just wanted to be super thorough. I would highly recommend her to anyone!

I hired PAWS to walk my dogs during the day - I work long hours some days and the pups not only need a bathroom break but some stimulation and exercise. Phil is great with the girls - firm but loving and when I come home at night, they are much less rambunctious. He even asked me about any training they are familiar with and works to reinforce positive behavior. My most recent dog was a pain-in-the-leash but in just two weeks with Phil, it has become much better. I'll definitely keep using PAWS.

Barb has been coming to my home 3 days a week for the past year to play with my 2 year old dog Penny and watch my 9 year old cat Linus. She's always gone above and beyond not only letting me have worry/guilt free work days but noticing things that might need attention, opening or closing windows and letting work people in the house for me. Penny is friends with her 2 dogs so sometimes they come to play as well. She has helped me out a couple of times when I had an emergency as well. I recommend her without hesitation.

I have a golden retriever that was pulling me down the street and beagle who was aggressive. We trained at Lorenzo's with marcus and he was amazing. He helped us gain control over our rambunctious dogs. He even got my beagle to stop being afraid of every. Since then we haven't had any more accidents in the house and walking down the street is actually fun now. I would recommend marcus to anyone who wants a dog you can take anywhere and not have any worries.

I have quite a large dog, it's a rhodesian ridgeback, and she's a great groomer with her. Luna was also a shelter dog before she cane to us and had been beaten, she was skittish and scared. However, the service here made Luna feel comfortable and and ease as she was groomed. We've been back several times and will continue to go. 😀

I've used Waggy Tails dog training service for my pitbull and i couldn't be happier! Jill is friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate. During our sessions together she not only trained my dog but she also made sure that i was armed with the knowledge to maintain a well mannered pup. She is very quick and definitely has a gift for dog training.

From childhood, Whitney has had a great amount of experience with animals and you can tell by her demeanor with them. She is very kind, punctual and is overall an extremely pleasant person both with people and animals. I would recommend her for pet care of any kind.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

    • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
    • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
    • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
    • What are your different walk routes?
    • When will you pick up and drop off?
    • How will we communicate?
    • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
    • What’s your cancellation policy?
    • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
    • How and how often do I pay you?
    • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

How much do dog walkers charge?

The cost of dog walking depends on several factors including length and frequency of dog walks, the number of dogs on the walk, distance to your house, and any additional services you request. The national average cost range for a dog walk is $10-$20, but that price will vary based on where you live in the country and the regional cost of living and doing business.

The longer the dog walk, the higher your costs will be. Dog walkers offer a range of walk lengths, from 15-minute potty breaks to long hikes of 120 minutes or more. For example, a dog walker may charge $15 for a 15-minute walk and $35 for a 35-minute walk. Requesting that your dog be the only animal on the walk will typically mean a higher cost than if you permit your dog to be walked in a pack of dogs. You may be able to get a discounted rate if you have more than one dog to be walked. For example, a professional dog walker may charge $28 for one dog or $33 for two dogs on a 60-minute walk. If you need additional help — like feeding the dogs or giving them medication — dog walkers may be able to provide this service at an additional fee. Dog walkers may charge higher rates for walking your dogs on holidays.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
