Very friendly guy. Was able to get our paint job done a few days after our request (in a hurry to put it up for sale). Only didn't give a 5 because there were some touch ups to do, but because of our big hurry, we took care of them ourselves. I'm sure had we called him, he would have taken care of this for us. So its kind of our own fault, not really a reflection of Nothing Fancy. Also, we got a VERY good price for the job from him. Much lower than many other quotes we got from others!

I originally wanted to provide the paint, a solvent based industrial paint that was very durable. When they arrived they said that they have not worked with this type of paint before, I had someone talk to them about the benefits as well as the drawbacks of using the paint. They decided not to use the paint, but to keep the job offered to pay for the paint they would use, Sherwin-Williams, and covered the warranty for 5 years. Juan and his crew masked all the gutters, doors and windows and took off all of the downspouts prior to painting. After painting they removed all the masked areas and reinstalled the downspouts. They were extremely neat and careful of the patio and patio furniture moving it off into the yard and covering with a tarp to prevent overspray, again attention to the small details made the difference in how they worked and did the job. I had one area that was not finished as I cared for, I called them and they promptly came out and corrected that area. Juan again assured me that if we found anything else to contact them and they would take care of it. They also removed the old cracked caulking and re-caulked the areas prior to painting. I would highly recommend them, great company to work with and a wise choice on my part. I had interviewed several companies, and chose the right one!

Jack did a great job for me at two investment properties. Installed cabinets, laid laminate flooring, paint, and installed a sliding door plus a few other odds and ends. Professional and very timely.

After purchasing our first home- we were excited to paint everything on our own....I soon found out it was way too much for us to do with the time crunch we were working with- we started frantically seeking out help- so happy we came across D3 services!! They were amazing!! They willing worked with our schedule, came the very next day, and had it finished the following day! 2 decent sized bedrooms w/accent walls, a pretty large open concept living room/kitchen and two hallways!! We were so impressed with PJ, his painting skills and were very comfortable leaving him a key so he could work however long he wanted to. My boyfriend and I are looking forward to hiring them again to paint our basement and upper level of our home. Defiantly would recommend D3 Services to anyone looking for professional painters!!

John always does a top quality job. He has done house inspections for my real estate customers and is very thorough with his inspection and delivers a email report with excellent pictures of the items inspected. He also is a precision painter. He can paint without taping and still not mess up the lines. He also does electrical work, plumbing, etc. All is done with great expertise. His work and knowledge of the workings of houses is top shelf.

We did hire Paul Decker to do some work at our house in Painesville Ohio. These jobs included replacing all the screens in the gazebo painting and also refinishing our deck. Mr. Decker was prompt and completed the job within a few days. Everything was neat and clean up was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable about how to accomplish the job and Helped us choose the proper screens for the gazebo. It looks much better without all of the old holes and wear signs. We also wanted a gate custom built for our deck. He manufactured this and painted it to match the rest of the railing around the deck and it works perfectly. The price was fair and I would highly recommend handyman services.

From the first meeting with Dave Rogers to the last day he was personally on the job along with his crew members. We knew we were in good hands. We had our house painted, our back patio replaced and a pad poured in front of our shed. Everything about the work was explained to us in detail; he walked us through the entire process and helped with ideas making everything seamless. Safe Guard Renovations took the time to ensure the drainage and other pertinent facets of the patio installation were taken into account before laying the concrete, which is critical. Part of this line of work is how the contractor treats the customer, Dave and his crew, Shane and Jamie did not forget that. They made this a great experience, with high quality craftsmanship in the end product. We cannot be happier with the service, advice, timeliness, and overall work completed to give us a better outdoor living space! Thank you Safe Guard Renovation, thank you Dave, Shane and Jamie! We would recommend Safe Guard Renovation for any work in the future.

Painted entire house, upstairs and downstairs. 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms. Eric and Joseph were very easy to work with. Eric came to the house ahead of the project to discuss color scheme (insightful, art background). He was quick to gather supplies, schedule the project and make adjustments as needed. For example, the paint store provided the wrong color for the large combined space of living and kitchen area. I was traveling and returned to see they finished about 75% of the space with the wrong color. Eric went straight to the store, had the issue corrected, returned with the correct paint and got started again. They worked on Saturday to keep the schedule on track. Every morning, someone was there early and as soon as we opened the door, the work was started. They fixed small little spots that my husband and I noticed and offered to come back to address anything in the 2 weeks after the job was finished. Unfortunately, even though we requested Zero VOC paint (because of my allergies and migraines), the base was Zero VOC, but the colorants were not. The fumes were difficult to have in the house as the paint dried. Eric and Joseph tried their best to use fans to direct the fumes outside. I have used actual Zero VOC paints in the past and they can be special-ordered and if I had to do the project again, I would definitely consider hiring Heritage but I would ensure we used Zero VOC paints.

Without a doubt, the best decision we made when buying our new home, was to hire 1 Man and a Brush, to paint. The price was right, and the experience smooth. The owner was professional, timely and neat. He was easy to work with and flexible with OUR schedule. We recently used him a second time to repaint a guest room that we turned into a nursery for our new baby. We will definitely use this company in the future!

I had Allstar Home Improvement paint my multi family century home and replace window sills in Willoughby. The owner, Mr. Obannion, listened to all my concerns and gave me a very fair quote. This company went above and beyond my expectations and did exceptional work. They arrived early, worked hard and completed the job within a reasonable amount of time. I feel comfortable recommending this company as I am very satisfied.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
