Physical activity is important to mental health. The training I do with Eric is crucial to my recovery process. Not long ago I was so depressed that getting out of bed was an accomplishment. After staying in a mental illness treatment facility and subsequently moving on to therapy sessions, I realized the role physical activity plays in recovery. But when you're struggling just to get out of bed, and taking new medications, getting to the gym isn't the easiest thing. My girlfriend and I found Eric at Pursuit Fitness Center. We chose Pursuit because it's a smaller, more private atmosphere – it's laid-back so I felt like I wouldn't be overwhelmed and it wouldn't trigger my anxiety. More importantly, Eric was patient, easy to talk with, and knowledgeable about fitness. You could tell he cared about us. I really needed that at a time when, on most days, I was irritable and tired at best – much less looking forward to working out. One year later, I'm doing 100% better. After being at the lowest part of my life, Eric patiently worked to keep me active and give me the energy/mood boost I needed to get my life back together. I don't think I would have reached my goal of staying consistently active without Eric's help and the atmosphere at Pursuit. Working out with Christine has greatly improved my life! When I started working out with her, I had really bad back and shoulder pain. She tailored my workouts to help me where I am weakest, and four months later, I am virtually pain free! Gentry has been training me since August 2016. She is the most positive, upbeat, motivating person I have ever met and I have truly forgotten the feeling of dreading going to the gym, and reversely look forward to every day I train with her; in fact, more often than not it is the highlight of my day. I started going to her to add upper body strength to my noodle arms and also to get a Kardashian booty, because what girl doesn't want that. I worked with Allen in Encinitas, California, and was pleasantly surprised with his knowledge base and willingness to adjust the workout to my needs. I am a former athlete with bad knees and back, but a love for kettlebells and strength training. Allen's ability to tailor a perfect workout, and adjust as needed, allowed me to lose weight, gain energy, and gain strength and great posture! He was always inspiring and patient when I wanted to give up or skip a particular exercise.
