I apologize not to write the review sooner. I had contracted Mr. Williams to remove old wood floor and put down a new wood floor for my first floor house of 1150 sq ft. which include formal living room and dining room with small Piano room, three bed rooms and a whole way. Williams and his crew are very professional, polite and very hard working people. The quality of there work is exceptional. They arrive on time and start working on the project and I was impressed how fast they took out the old floor and cleaned as soon as they finished each room and haul away the old wood. They came back the next day they start putting the new wood floor and finished the work the following day and finished the job half a day earlier than they sign on the contract. I was afraid who I choose to do the work and trying to find the best for the quality of work and the money, I am so happy I found Mr. Williams ( BC Builders Flooring Installation) to do the excellent job him and his crew did. I recommend him highly for anyone who need wood flooring installation. If I have another project or anyone I know need one I highly recommend him.

Paul did a very good job installing my backsplash. He was flexible with the scheduling. The removal of the old tile was a little more challenging than we anticipated but Paul was able to handle it.

I needed someone to install kitchen backsplash that would look nice with my new granite countertops. Thumbtack sent me 3 professionals that they were recommending for the job. I went with Dave Peters of Diamond Contracting LLC based on many positive reviews and a Top Pro classification from Thumbtack. It turned out to be the perfect choice as Dave Peters is a perfectionist and works on your home as if it is his. He has a keen attention to detail and is excellent at suggesting ideas for the perfect materials and color matches. I love his installation of my backsplash using spacers to assure straight lines and working adeptly around the many outlets and light switches. The backsplash and grout go perfectly with my ceramic tile floor, wooden cupboards, and granite counters. He also installed some stone veneer panels to replace ugly fake wood paneling that is a 100% improvement – looks beautiful. I also needed some power washing on the roof and vinyl siding of my house where algae, mildew, mold or moss began growing in the moist shaded areas. Dave did an amazing job with this knowing the perfect cleaning additives for the power wash to kill and clean this nasty stuff. If it is quality workmanship that you are looking for, then you need to get ahold of Dave Peters at Diamond Contracting LLC to discuss your job and provide a free estimate.

We were among Manny's first customers in Columbus. I took a chance and called Manny for a quote after reviewing his website and reading favorable Florida customer comments on the site. Glad I made the call. We were immediately impressed with his knowledge and his recommendations for our project. The project involved replacing the carpet in our basement rec area with alternative flooring. The heavy rain in June exceeded the capacity of our sump pump resulting in water seepage in the basement and destroying the carpet. We were considering alternatives to carpet including LVT, epoxy coating and stained concrete. Manny was both insightful and persuasive in helping us to reach our final decision to go with tile. We selected a wood-look plank porcelain tile which Manny expertly installed. This was no small project; 650 square feet of tile total. Manny arrived on time, work diligently and completed the installation in a timely fashion. We are more than pleased with the result. We would and have recommended Manny to others who are looking for a quality tile installation at a reasonable price.

Danny originally came out to give me a quote for bathroom tile work. After reading his reviews I asked him to give me a quote for a drywall project in our living room. We had an electrician install can lights and I wanted to have our ceiling overlayed with drywall. Danny's quote was very reasonable and lower than other quotes for drywall I received on thumbtack. He was prompt and showed up everyday when he said he would, most days early. The guys worked quickly and cleaned up everyday before they left. I could tell they were pros and they made quick work of the 13 sheets we needed to be hung in our living room. After I painted the ceiling, their tape and joints were smooth and not visible. Ceiling looks perfect! Great find on thumbtack!

Josh designed, painted & installed wainscotting on the ceiling of two bathrooms. The quality of his miter cuts were spot on considering our home is 50 years old with uneven walls. He also painted the walls in both bathrooms. He was very friendly, timely and cleaned up after his work. We would highly recommend him and will be using him again soon for other projects.

True Blue did a great job installing our porcelain tiles in a ~20 sq ft half bath, a project just outside our DIY comfort zone. Jason was very responsive and answered all of our questions, even taking extra time on his initial visit to give his opinion on a couple other projects around the house that we're thinking about taking on at some point. The work itself needed a second day to finish up a few things, and was completed for a reasonable price. We supplied the tiles but forgot to also get grout, though Jason was kind enough to supply it for us anyway, along with some simple baseboards. We would recommend True Blue and may very well hire them again for future projects!

There is nothing bad to say about the work Aaron and Noah did for me in completely re-doing my front porch. After removing the old tile, we discovered the foundation of the old porch needed fairly extensive prep work, and they got that done well and in a timely way. When Mother Nature finally cooperated, they were able to lay the flagstone. The end result looks really, really nice. I am constantly getting compliments on the work that was done. These guys will do exactly what you want, and do it on schedule if at all possible. And if they do have any minor delays, they are good at communicating why -- and when your job will be completed. The work is excellent, and their prices are very reasonable. Given the level of professionalism they display, and their expertise, you would never know their company is still in its infancy.

I had originally hired Trent to remove linoleum from my kitchen floor in an older home. We realized that the floor consisted of 3 sub-floors. Trent removed 2 of the sub floors which would allow for a new laminate floor to be installed. Trent was on time, courteous, and did what he said he was going to do. His experience helped make decisions easier and he was very affordable. I have now hired him to install the new flooring. Putting up plastic within the kitchen entry areas could have been done to help with the sawdust.

Daniel West Masonry & Construction Services has been VERY professional so far. I have tried several flooring installers and I’ve had trouble with each. They even recommended a place to look for our flooring called Floor & Decor. When we went shopping at this retailer, we were extremely impressed with the quality of the wood-look tile and engineered hardwood. You cannot get that type of quality at Lowe’s or Home Depot. Floor & Decor blows them out of the water with the thickness of their flooring. There is literally no bad option there, and they have very low prices that impressed us! I have not yet used them to lay the flooring down yet, but I have so much faith in them that I know they’ll do a wonderful job as they know what they’re talking about, and through other reviews I’ve read they do a wonderful job. This is how much confidence I have in this company. I would highly recommend using them for your next flooring project, and as a bonus they are very affordable!

I've used him for so many jobs... Update entire home after destructive tenants.... Tear up and pull out old carpeting, replacing all blinds for every window, install dishwasher, washer and dryer, garbage disposal, level several separate room floors in preparation for tile work (this made the biggest difference in my home)....He is excellent at shaping the tile to the right shape and size, back splashes, replaced hot water tank. Before I go on further I need to go back and explain that in 3 separate rooms that had to be leveled and tiled, he had to reinsert new floorboards and this was true in 2 other small areas where the floor would be layed with new carpet. He has inserted new security cameras for my peace of mind, ran wiring to my garage and I'm sure I could go on and on. One of the things I appreciated the most is that he always cleans up as he goes. Another is his pricing. And quality is always included in the value! He's got an energetic personality that can always pull a smile from a person who is having a bad day! I keep his number handy and once you use him, you will too!

We used Columbus Constructors to install our laminate floors. It was a much bigger job than we had originally thought because during the demo Drew (the owner) discovered we had 3 areas where our roof was leaking and the water was pooling under the carpet along the walls. He handled that issue with ease and then installed the floors as planned. The floor is beautiful and the craftsmanship was top notch! I will be calling Drew again soon!

Nathan did a very good job on installing a new tub, tile, faucet, and built a cubby hole in tub area. He also overlayed the bathroom ceiling, finished, and painted. Very nice job. I would recommend Precision, Remodeling & Design to all my friends. Thank you, Nathan.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to get tiling done?

You can install tiling on your floors, walls, counters, kitchen backsplash, outdoor patio and shower — to name a few places. Tile is beautiful, easy to clean, durable, and resilient against kids and pets. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Often, tile installation specialists quote a price per square foot for installation. Costs can increase if you want the pro to supply the tile instead of ordering it yourself. Other factors that can increase cost include specialized installation with a unique design that will require more labor to install.

Prep work will also affect tile installation costs. Demolition of the existing floor, counter or backsplash takes time and energy that will be reflected in the price. Necessary repairs, such as a sub-floor that needs bolstering before tile flooring can be installed, will also increase costs. For tile showers, one example of tile installation cost may be approximately $25 per square foot including all materials and labor. Average tile installation costs for backsplashes may run anywhere from $10 to $40, depending on the materials selected and the amount of labor required. The larger the area where tile is being installed, the lower the price per square foot will likely be. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for wood-look tile installation in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet.

How much does it cost to tile a shower?

The cost of tiling a shower depends on two main factors: the size of the shower and the quality of the tiles. In general, most professional tilers charge an average of $25 per square foot of tiled area and the national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The tiles themselves are the greatest variable; the cost depends on their size, shape, pattern and manufacturer. For example, tile purchased at a volume discount from a big-box store cost far less than tiles made in small batches by an artisan ceramics shop. Prices can range from as little as $1 to $50 or more per square foot of tile. Other factors that will drive up the total tile installation cost are grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps or soap holders, and surface prep materials, especially if drywall needs to be replaced before the tile can be installed. Many tile installers will also remove and haul away any old materials from an existing shower installation.

How much does it cost to tile a bathroom?

Tile installation costs are a key part of your bathroom remodel costs. The tile you select (which can range from under $2 per square foot to $50 per square foot or more), the demolition and repair work required prior to installation, and the size of the job will all affect cost. You can install tile in the shower, on the counters, on the wall or on the floor. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Bathroom tile is easy to clean and durable for daily life. Here are some examples of average bathroom tile installation costs:

  • Tile installation at $25 per square foot of tiled bathroom area.
    • A standard tub and shower combo requires tiles for approximately 60 inches of length. Calculate wall height and add 30 to 36 inches of tub width for the walls at the head and foot of the tub. If the tile walls are 6 feet to 8 feet high, in this example, the tile installation costs would run about $2,000. Price includes materials.
  • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with an 8-foot ceiling: $1,450. Price includes materials.
  • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with a 10-foot ceiling: $1,650. Price includes materials.

How much does it cost to install a ceramic tile floor?

Tile installation costs for ceramic floors depend on the type of tile you select. You can purchase tile that sells for under $2 per square foot or tile that costs $50 per square foot — or more for artisanal and hand-painted tiles. The cost of labor to install a tile floor will also depend on the tile you select. It is far less labor-intensive to install a white 12-inch by 12-inch square tile than a 2-inch by 2-inch hexagonal tile with a distinct pattern. That extra time and energy equates to a higher per-square-foot installation cost. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for labor to install wood-look tile in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet. That same pro may charge $6 or more per square foot for a more intricate pattern, or a smaller space. Some installers may charge a minimum day rate for ceramic tile floor installation, such as $340 minimum per day, to cover business expenses and employee wages. If you’re looking to reduce costs, removing your existing flooring and handling any repairs needed can help eliminate prep work costs. Prep work may be charged per hour and could cost anywhere from $25 to $80 per hour or more, depending on the region and the type of repair work necessary.

How much does it cost to install tiles in a kitchen?

One of the most common kitchen upgrades is installing decorative backsplash tiles in the space between the counters and cabinets. It’s a chance for homeowners to get creative while also protecting the kitchen walls from splashes and stains. Like all tiling projects, kitchen tile project costs depend on the tiles you choose, installation materials such as grout and mortar, and any surface materials, like replacement backer board. The national average for a tiled kitchen backsplash is $490-$750. In general, pricing averages $10-$40 per square foot for installation, not including tile. Some professional tile installers have a minimum day rate for small projects, which averages $350.
