I received a quote right away. Vlad showed up on time. He had all supplies including a ladder. Re-hung curtain rod that a previous handyman installed poorly. He hung a wall hanging that I'd had for 4 years because it needed to be hung 10ft high. He even put wd40 on my doorknob on his way out since he noticed it sticking.

He did an absolutely amazing job. Worked his butt off the entire time. First time using thumbtack and I will be using him again as soon as I have another project. I did a lot of the prep work to start but he came in and re-did my prep work (sanding) to ensure the cabinets would turn out amazing. He showed up on time and just worked. 5 stars, 10/10 will be using him again! Some before, during, and after photos!

Details: Home • 1 room • Walls • Trim • Ceiling • Under 8 feet (low ceiling) • Repainting, with a color change • Excellent - clean and smooth • Homeowner or property manager • No, this is not new construction • I'm flexible

I hired Vlad to mount a six picture photo gallery. After watching a lot of You Tube videos, I know they can be tricky to install but he said he had experience doing them and said it would take about 1.5 hours. He was very thorough with his calculations so the gallery is properly centered on the wall, but the spacing in between the pictures is inconsistent by up to 1” in some instances because he forgot to measure the mounting hardware on the back of the frames, which are all different. I think that threw his initial markings on the wall off and because he was already running 2 hrs over he left it that way. It’s not horrible but I might have someone come and move a couple pictures. It probably wouldn’t bother most people, but I notice it.

He also ran into issues using nails on plaster walls, although I specified my walls were plaster in the job description and when he got here. The plaster crumbled so the nails weren’t grabbing (screws are best for plaster).

I will say he really, really tried, which I appreciate. He was also fair with the pricing given that he was very behind schedule due to the measuring error and challenges with the nail holes.

The only other thing I’ll say is that for more complicated projects where discussion is needed, it can be hard because there’s a language barrier but if your project is really straightforward it wouldn’t be an issue. I have no doubt he’d do a great job.

VladFix's reply

Thank you for your detailed feedback, Alison. I really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. The plaster walls in the home turned out to be much more fragile than expected, which made it difficult for standard nails and anchors to hold properly. I initially tested nails to see how the plaster would react, but it began to crumble, so I had to carefully switch to larger anchors to make sure the frames would stay secure and safe on the wall. Regarding the spacing, the mounting hardware on the back of the frames was different on several of the pieces, which unfortunately affected the alignment more than expected. I always try to keep galleries as precise as possible, and I appreciate you pointing that out. Thank you again for recognizing the effort and fairness in pricing. I always do my best to make sure installations are safe and done with care. I truly appreciate the opportunity to help with your project.

Vlad followed up with me same day to assist with mounting a Murphy bed to a wall that I was having difficulty with. He came up with a fantastic solution and was able to complete the work in less time than I would have expected. Brad was very friendly, professional, and cleaned up after the job was complete.
