FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing for a video project is very complicated and for me to price something correctly, I need a lot of information from the client. Just saying "I want a quote for a music project" is not nearly enough information. Some of the basic things I need to know about quoting a job include: * The expected length of the final project. * Is it an indoor project, an outdoor project or a combination of each? * Does the client need just a shooter or editor or is the client looking for someone to also handle producer duties (scheduling, casting (if needed), arranging for other pros to assist, etc.) * What is the final use of the video as this makes a difference technically in how the piece is edited. * What is the turnaround for the completed project? The more information a client can provide at the "request for proposal" stage, the better off everyone will be as the project moves forward.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Shooting video for a variety of events and purposes (commercials, music videos, films, plays, live events, etc.) Editing the footage I shoot to client specifications. I will also edit video other people shoot. A variety of production related jobs including acting as Assistant Director, Script Supervisor, Production Coordinator, and most recently, as supervisor of catering and craft services for a short film. I am also a script "doctor" and provide a service in which I read, evaluate and "fix" scripts prior to agent or contest submissions.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I am currently editing a series of roughly 40 travelogue videos that my client will be pitching as part of a longer term project. The footage I have been provided is very good and I have a great deal of control over how I choose to edit that material into a final product. It is a lot of fun and the final clips look great.
