Sara contacted us immediately, scheduled a walk through and we had cleaning services set up within a week. Our first cleaning with Amber was great and Sara has been great about working with our schedule and contacting us in a timely manner. Hoping that this start is indicative of the quality of future services!

Overall, I was happy with the work done. My house was a bit of a mess, and the major things I wanted done were taken care of. A couple of cobwebs got left, and some bugs in window sills didn't get vacuumed up, but...my kitchen is no longer nasty and they pulled all the gross lint hair whatever out of the bathroom fan. They were able to work around several dogs without worry, which was nice (dogs were confined, but needed to be moved around the house throughout the day) My only real complaint is cigarette butts. It's fine if you smoke, but leaving used cigarette butts on my property is kinda crappy...especially when there were trash bags outside available to throw them away in.

My mother hired Christina, Webster's Cleaning, around 2004. My mother thought so highly of her. So when my mother died, I hired her to clean our house. Christina has all the characteristics you would look for in a cleaning service. She is honest. She is reliable. She is always on time...Has never canceled a cleaning. In the 12 years that I've known her on this professional level, I have never, ever worried that she was taking something from our house. She works quickly and efficiently. She does not come to talk... She has a job to do and she starts immediately when she comes through the door. She is thorough. She is careful when handling our possessions. Very good choice, Christina is highly recommended by my family and I.

Allen cleaned my home from gutters to ground on my siding. The windows and screens were included and left them sparkling clean. A professional and courteous crew did a fantastic job on site and also before even getting the bid. Scheduling with Allen was a breeze and he was prompt. After seeing such great work I asked for a quote on family members home. The quote was fantastic and he was able to accommodate our schedule and clean the second home that same day. I will hire Allen again and will pass his name on. Thank you for such a great job and awesome customer service! It was a pleasure doing business with you!

I have never had an cleaning company come in and do move out cleaning services for me. I chose this company based on reviews on Thumtack. I am blessed to have found them. The woman who performed our services was full of honesty on her estimate and final price, a work ethic that is second to none, and a very kind demeanor. I would like to sing her praises in this review and encourage everyone to give this company a try the next time you need services. There aren't enough words to say how happy we are! I would like them to become my permanent cleaning service in my new home. Thank you so much!!!

I had moved to Youngstown for a new job, and had to put a lot of my stuff in storage. When the time came to take my stuff out of storage, I found there were mouse droppings EVERYWHERE. I advertised on Thumbtack for a good cleaner to come to my place ASAP to clean ALL the stuff I had in storage extremely thoroughly, and to clean my new apartment again (since all the mouse-dropping containing stuff had to be moved into it). She responded immediately, and was there the very next day, early in the morning. She cleaned out absolutely everything (right down to wiping individual pieces of paper that I needed to keep). She re-vacuumed the whole place (it had clearly been vaccumed before I moved in, but her vacuum captured a lot more dirt from the carpet anyways). She took some of my most important laundry (bedding, towels, comforter) to her own house to clean because the apartment complex's washing machines were too small to take some of it. She got done 14 hours later. Then, she still only asked for the amount that she quoted me on Thumbtack (an amount that, frankly, was too little in my estimation for all the great work she did). She did an unreal job, sticking with it with an attention to detail that few I have worked with would bother trying to keep over that long a period of time. I absolutely recommend her to clean whatever you have, and I plan on keeping her number for whenever I need cleaning services again!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How often should you get your air ducts cleaned?

How often you should clean your air ducts depends on your situation. If you or someone in the home has asthma or is acutely allergic to certain airborne materials or pollen, regular duct cleaning may be helpful. The Environmental Protection Agency doesn’t have an official position on the necessity of air duct cleaning unless the ducts have been contaminated by rodents, insects or mold, or you are aware of particles blowing out through the vents. The EPA recommends you have your air ducts cleaned on an as-needed basis. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) suggests having air ducts cleaned every three to five years.

Be cautious with companies that offer “whole house air duct cleaning,” urges the NADCA. The company may be using unscrupulous tactics to upsell you once they get started. Before any work begins, always clarify in writing what the job entails and what the cost will be. To protect yourself against fraud, read customer reviews and verify that your HVAC cleaning service has applicable licenses and certifications.

How much do you pay for house cleaning?

Hiring a professional house cleaning service is a helpful way to have a healthy home even when your work and personal schedule is packed. House cleaning prices vary based on how many square feet your home is, how dirty your house gets, and how often the cleaning service comes. Some companies charge a set amount — such as 5 cents — per square foot, with a minimum amount, such as $100. The national average cost for house cleaning ranges between $110 and $150. Prices can be lower in areas with a lower cost of living, higher in big cities or affluent regions. You may save money by increasing the frequency of your house cleaning visits. Often a company will charge you less per cleaning when you schedule more cleanings per month. The cost advantage rewards your loyalty, and also reflects the fact that more frequent cleanings make it easier to maintain a high level of cleanliness in your home. A housecleaning service may charge more for the first visit or for one-time services than for recurring cleanings.

Do you need to clean your air ducts?

Air duct cleaning is done by heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) professionals. The pros use industrial-strength, truck-mounted vacuums and powerful brushes and hoses to clean inside the metal ducts that make up your forced air heating and cooling system. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends duct cleaning if there is “substantial visible mold growth inside hard surface ducts, ducts that are infested with vermin such as rodents or insects, or ducts that are clogged with excessive amounts of dust and debris and/or particles are actually released into the home from your supply registers.”

You should also have air ducts cleaned after recent water contamination or water damage to prevent mold; after renovations or remodeling to ensure debris and dust didn’t settle in the vents and ducts; if you are having problems with allergies or asthma; or when you are moving into a newly purchased home, especially if the previous owners smoked or had pets. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) recommends getting your air ducts cleaned every three to five years, or every two to three years in regions where homeowners use their air conditioning and heater for many months of the year, while the EPA suggests homeowners have duct cleaning done as needed.

How much does it cost to deep clean a house?

Deep cleaning a house goes beyond the surface level to clear out the dust, grime and gunk that’s collecting on the fan blades, hiding in the blinds, and built up inside the refrigerator drawers. Deep cleaning of a home or apartment costs more than regular house cleaning because it takes more time, effort, and cleaning products. You may choose to have a deep cleaning once or several times a year in addition to your standard cleaning services. You may have a one-time deep cleaning to prepare for company or to clean after a house party. Companies may charge an hourly rate or a price per square foot, or may offer you a flat rate after they have visited your home and estimated work time. The national average house cleaning price is $110-$150, with rates ranging higher for deep-cleaning services. Here are some examples of how a company may calculate their deep-cleaning prices:

    • 10 cents per square foot (compared with 5 cents per square foot for standard house cleaning).
    • $300 for a 3,000-square-foot home.
    • $25 per hour per worker for deep-cleaning services.

How long does it take to get your ducts cleaned?

The amount of time air duct cleaning takes can depend on how extensive your duct system is, how old your air ducts are, and whether they have ever been cleaned. On average, expect a standard size home (between 2,000 and 3,000 square feet) to take 2-5 hours for one to two technicians to clean. Here are the proper protocol and equipment you should expect from a professional duct cleaning service, as recommended by the Environmental Protection Agency:

    • All doors and access ports opened to ensure the entire duct system is inspected and cleaned.
    • Thorough system inspection prior to cleaning to identify possible asbestos-containing materials. If asbestos is present, specially trained and equipped contractors must do the removal.
    • Use of approved vacuum equipment that exhausts particles outside of your house. If the vacuum exhausts inside your home, it must be HEPA equipment.
    • Furnishings and carpet covered and protected.
    • Soft-bristled brushes only on fiberglass duct board and sheet metal ducts internally lined with fiberglass.
    • Ductwork properly protected.
    • Adherence to guidelines and practices set down by the National Air Duct Cleaners Association.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
