Great job getting a tree limb cut that was a potential threat to fall on my house. Trimming a tree can be extremely dangerous. Therefore, I was most impressed about their concern for safety, both for the crew and the homeowner, their well thought out plan on how to approach getting it down, and their professional attitudes.

He went above and beyond the call of duty. All bushes look great and the trees and bushes I needed cut back, all look wonderful and he hauled off all the cutoffs. He made sure to get the branch laying over the fence into my neighbors yard (AWESOME!) and They cleaned up the area better than they found it. If I ever need a lawn professional in the future I will reach out to Pierce Services.

I called around and Jesse was the only one who understood exactly what I wanted. You see I live in Texas and my property is located in Oklahoma so its important to do the job without supervision and that is exactly what Jesse did and he exceeded my expectations without taking me to the bank as the others wanted to do, thanks Jesse and I will be using you exclusively for all tree removal and pruning.

Kyle did a variety of jobs for me including some pretty heavy ground prep and sod work as well as removing a tree. He did an excellent job and finished the work quickly and efficiently. He is hardworking and trust worthy. We have even used him for a second job since then. I would highly recommend him without any reservations.

Did a great job removing the rose bushes from our old garden. He hauled everything off and left us with fresh soil to start over with this spring as we requested. Very friendly and professional. Would definitely hire again.

Very professional. Brought my yard back to life. Trimmed my crepe myrtles, which are small trees, front hedge, and brought my Chast Tree back to life. Built a brick circle around it and mulched all the trees. Having him back for more work.

I had this project done during the hottest point of the summer. These men were quick to respond and worked hard to get done what we wanted. We had two entire trees removed, brush removal, and several trees trimmed. It was a big job. I would call on them to come back any time and have already recommended them to several friends. Very nice and hard working men.

I would highly recommend A & A Lawn Service! Andrew & his team have done a beautiful job on our weed over-taken lawn, repaired our sprinkler system with the help of a Plummer, and taught me how to operate our sprinkler system. Now we are talking about removing three Holly trees which one of the trees roots is trying to get into the sprinkler system’s water line - not good! We are also talking about future landscaping & lighting. If you want a beautiful lawn, A & A Lawn Service is your team!

We had some large limbs come down in our yard causing some damage and making it impossible to mow the lawn. They came out early, removed all the broken tree branches and cleaned up the yard and then even mowed the tall grass that had grown up. After they were able to fix my fire pit that one of the trees had damaged for me before they left! Very hard working and very professional. I will be using them again.

Cordell's Tree Service did an excellent job of cutting down two large, old hackberry trees and hauling off all the debris. The workers were very efficient, arrived on time, and never stopped working throughout the day. The yard was raked after removing all of the large limbs and the small piles were removed as well. We obtained three bids and theirs was 50% cheaper than one bid and 33% cheaper than the other bid. We would highly recommend Cordell Tree Service.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

      • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
      • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.
