I had some personal items by father left to my sons that I needed moved from his house into storage. I live in Denver and had to coordinate long distance and I had a short time frame in which to operate. Supportive Services got me an estimate within 15 minutes of posting my needs on Thumbtack. The job went off without a hitch. Great outcome.

WOW!!!!! These guys were great! They did what they said they would do. When they said they would do it. And it cost exactly what they said it would cost. (no hidden fees or costs) The cost for moving our three story house items was about one third of the cost of the big movers for a long distance move. We would recommend them to anybody in a minute. If we could give them more than 5 stars, we would.

Fantastic job by Evan's Moving Company from start to finish! Whether you're moving a short distance or long (I moved 3000 miles), don't hesitate to hire these guys. From the very beginning, Evan was on top of everything. He was extremely responsive to my questions, came to my house to assess the job and how many movers/equipment he would need, and even sent me intros of each mover who would show up on my move day. I had a very unusual move as I had to have Evan's crew load up a U-haul at my house and then unload that same U-haul into a trailer at a different location for shipment to my new house across the country. Having shipped my belongings the same way my last move, I had a horrible experience with bad packing resulting in over a thousand dollars in damage and labor costs. I let Evan know my past experience and he assured me that it would not happen this time, and he was right! Ask Evan for my before and after photos if you like. The load arrived just as it was shipped because of these guys! They saved me a thousand dollars in shipping (by being able to pack so tightly in the trailer) and more as it was super easy to remove my belongings from the trailer at my new house. I can't thank these guys enough! Again, fantastic communication, great service, major hustle on the job, SUPER packing skills, and overall an amazing crew. We were thoroughly satisfied. Outstanding job!

I've recently made a move from the Portland area to Vancouver and Castro Movers did a great job.  This was my first long distance move, all the previous ones I've done myself by renting a small truck and getting some help from friends and family, but these guys came in and got it done fast.  My movers were Alex and Logan and these guys definitely knew what they were doing, very professional and friendly.  I didn't have a ton of stuff to move but they got everything out of my old place in about a half hour and kept the same pace on the other end as well.  My pre-move consultant was Michael and he was also very informative and professional. Overall a great moving experience! Thank you.

As a long haul mover, I've been using Jarret's services for 10 years. He is helpful, courteous, respectful And does a great job loading the truck. He's always on time and I know I can count on him to get the job done right. He's careful handling the furniture and has never broken anything. That's why I would hire him again! Mike and his team were absolutely awesome! They arrived on time and worked the entire day for me. They wrapped all of my furniture with blankets, protected my floors with red carpet and even had these special door pads to cover our front door! They were extremely effiecient and worked in the blazing heat! My overall experience was just amazing. They’re very affordable for the work they do. My last move, I paid double the price per hour and the movers weren’t even half as good. I’ll defiantly be using this crew again if I ever plan on moving in the future.

I am a repeat customer of NW Relocation. About one year ago I used them for the first time. That time I used them for a long distance move and day before yesterday I used NW Relocation again for an office move. I have to admit that they got even better this time. I received the same outstanding service which I got about a year ago. When their movers arrived everything was scattered here and there in my office. They had to wrap, pack and move everything within the given time and budget. They did really well to manage everything flawlessly. There were few odds but they managed well. I am thankful to the movers and to their sales rep Mike of NW Relocation for proving again that they are the best in business.

We were scheduled for a move with another mover who backed out on us during the busiest month. We were scheduled to go from Oregon to California. Rose answered our Thumbtack request and helped within hours, by the next morning next morning we had everything finalized. We booked within 24 hours had a full pack move and 3 days later we had peace of mind within 5 days from day of being packed the truck arrived. The crew came out to pack us and I was very worried that something would go wrong. The foreman Mario was beyond wonderful with the 5 other guys. We were fully packed loaded in two days. (it was a long two days but it was done). Our estimate was just about 98% on. Mimi called to set our delivery schedule and Rose kept us updated throughout the 5 days on where the truck was, when to expect them to arrive in California. Our move was about 1300 miles and I have to say, it is not every day a company returns calls at 11:00 pm at night when you realize a tractor trailer will not be able to access the street to deliver. Rose called us back within 15 minutes and said she would make sure it was taken care of before delivery at 10:am in the morning. We had 17,000 pounds plus moved and NOT one item damaged. If anyone has questions message me. My husband is a Attorney with nothing but praise. Thank you all for a Happy Move!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.
