Ellen has done house sitting and pet sitting for us since she began her business. When Ellen is in our home, we can leave with peace of mind. Ellen is extremely conscientious, competent and experienced. Her background working at a veterinarian's office gives her the knowledge to work well with all animals and to handle any pet problems that may arise. We have chickens, a dog, and a cat. At the time of one vacation, our dog had a wound that needed dressing changes and medications. We could leave with confidence that Ellen could handle the situation given her past work experience. Ellen is also able to deal with any unexpected in-home emergencies while we are away. We had a water pump break during one of Ellen's stays in our home, and she took care of everything for us. I love being able to leave for vacation knowing that my home is in the hands of someone who will oversee our animals and house with great care, attention and competence.

Emerald Valley Pet Medical Center has been my veterinary service for 16 years. The staff is very ferret-knowledgeable so I feel I can trust them to help me make the right decisions regarding my pets. Dr. Ron is always a pleasure to deal with; he is funny and witty, but understands when to speak plainly about a pet's condition. Dr. Kathy really knows her holistic medicines. Between the pair of them and their wonderful staff, I am totally confident my pets and I will receive the care and attention we need. They are all wonderfully compassionate and caring.

It was such a relief knowing that our big girl Dakota was for sure getting the walks she needed while we were honeymooning in Hawaii and the girls (cats) had fresh water and everyone was well taken care of. Paws'n Go was great and reliable, we have used their services before and would again and we reccomend them! thanks Diane!

Hi! My name is Amy and I'm 22 years old. I have a vast amount of experience with animals, and have owned three dogs, six cats, and many small animals in my lifetime. I recently moved to Eugene from Vermont after I graduated from the University of Vermont. Since arriving, I have been picking up various pet sitting and dog walking positions. If you need someone to watch your pet(s) while you're away, or you're finding that your dog needs a little extra exercise during the day, I'm your perfect match! I have a reliable car that's pet friendly, and an open schedule. If you're interested, I'd be happy to send you a resume and reference. Thanks and have a great day!

About

I've been blessed to own a number of different pets over the years, including cats, dogs, birds, and yes, one snake. I connect well with them, even if they have challenging personalities. I have the most experience with big dogs, specifically boxers, and I'm not scared of any breed (including any pit bull breeds)! I even rescued and owned a boxer who had been trained to fight other dogs (there are some *evil* humans out there), and was able to successfully re-train him so he could just play and enjoy life. Right now, I don't own any pets, but my boyfriend/roommate has three sweet outside cats. He also loves dogs and got to know my last dog Roxy (boxer) before she went over the rainbow bridge. We live out in the country with a few acres of land, so any dogs that I may sit for you could stay there (if you would like), and they'd have a few acres to run around on. I will never leave your dog(s) unattended outside though, to ensure they are safe and happy. Plus, I love playing with dogs! If it's an overnight stay, the dog(s) would stay inside with us at night. I am also more than happy to come to your home. I will follow any dietary needs or special training instructions your pet may need. I also have experience with crate-training, walks, baths, etc.

I have always had a certain passion when it comes to animals of all kinds. I somehow know when the animal is hurting/feeling by observing them instead of second guessing them and a talent to knowing how to care for them.

I am helpful, hardworking and professional, but most importantly, friendly. Whether it's housecleaning or pet sitting, I'll be sure to get the job done. I can take care of a wide range of animals from livestock to house pets and will make sure to keep a tidy environment. I will bring my own supplies for housecleaning as well.

About

I love dogs! I like to study the different breeds and what each breed requires for exercise. I believe in the "exercise, discipline, and then love" theory. I will care for your dog like it was my own. I pay special attention to my clients' wishes and requests for handling their pet.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

  • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
  • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
    • 45-minute visit: $28.
    • 60-minute visit: $32.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
    • 12 hours: $100.
    • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
