About Douglas Technical Services

DTS is an award-winning, full-service video production company that has the only mobile HD streaming system in Oregon that uses a KU band satellite uplink and has an on-board HD editing system.

You can literally webcast your wedding, corporate meeting, news, sporting event, etc. around the world for the price of a short video. And, you get a recording of your event as well as it is being placed on a server for later viewing. Our system can also provide on-site telephone and internet access. Put your live video message on Facebook. Let your friends and colleagues write comments or questions in real time!

We regularly shoot for national production companies and corporations. Our clients and credits include CBS, NBC, CNN, ABC, Fox, America's Most Wanted, Inside Edition, Dr. Phil and many, many more. We have also done work for companies from Germany, England, France, Holland, Japan and Australia here in the Pacific Northwest.

I have over 20 years in television and video production. My associates and I work as locals in the Eugene and Portland markets, while serving the entire Pacific Northwest.

Call me today to book a crew, or discuss your SD/HD/NTSC/PAL/streaming production needs.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. When looking for a provider like myself, make sure they have the appropriate equipment for the job and have at least 10 years of experience.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Many video companies say they have HD cameras, but what they really have is an HDV camera. The HDV format is highly compressed and does not have the quality that a Panasonic HDX900 has for example. When talking with a video company about a job, ask what make and model camera they use. I've paid more for a lens than many have paid for their whole kit.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Consumers, in my opinion, should ask the normal questions about equipment, experience, personnel, etc. However, I believe they should also ask questions that relate to the personality of the firm and the people they would be working with. It really gets the creative juices flowing when the client and provider click and have the same vision for the project.
