GENO MICHAELS & SOULCITY features Geno Michaels on keyboards and organ along with featured vocalist's Gigi Wiggins and Alonzo Chadwick. The horn section is Eldon “T”Jones and Bryan Dickerson on saxes, and Tom Barber on trumpet. The group's rhythm section is Dave Iula/Tomo Maruta on guitar, John Shaw on bass, Ed Pierce and Anthony Jones on drums/percussion. SOULCITY members have a wealth of expertise in the R&B idiom: individually, the members of the group have opened up shows for the likes of Earth, Wind and Fire; The Temptations; Tower Of Power; Lydia Pense and Cold Blood; and other notable acts.
In addition to leading his own R&B and jazz bands, Geno Michaels has freelanced extensively, displaying his soulful jazz/funk infused keyboard chops with Pacific Northwest legends, Lloyd Jones, Kelly Joe Phelps, Paul deLay, Terry Robb, Norman Sylvester, Linda Hornbuckle, Robbie Laws, La Rhonda Steele, Bill Rhoades, Ellen Whyte, Georgene Rice, Gina K. and several others. Geno has also been a member of The Terry Robb Band, been a featured keyboardist with Portland's Ocean 503, and has worked with popular Portland groups N' Touch and Rhythm Culture. Geno Michaels has performed at several Pacific Northwest music venues and festivals including The Lake Oswego Festival Of The Arts, The Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival, The Portland Rose Festival, and the Maryhill Winery Summer Concert Series (opening for The Temptations). Michaels won a nomination for Jazz Scene musician of the month, awarded by the Jazz Society Of Oregon, and also garnered a front page article in the Cascade Blues Associations monthly newspaper, Blues Notes.
