Inquired about service. Got a quick, cordial response. Decided to go with another provider I'd used before. This firm still cordial. These days that's unusually good.

Udai is great. He identified changes my small business could make that will save me a lot of money and reduce our tax burden significantly. Any business owner knows the more money you can keep, the more you can build wealth and grow your business. Udai understood this was our main goal and has helped facilitate that goal and we are very happy that he has produced those results in a very quick manner. While other companies wanted to set up meetings weeks out, Udai was able to start immediately with us which I saw as good customer service. Time is money and Udai is efficient, clear, and up to date with the current tax laws. I highly recommend him to handle your taxes, you wont be disappointed!

I recently had been informed that I owed State if Oregon over 21,000. I was beyond stressed as you can imagine. I searched for qualified yet reasonably priced CPA to help me but each turn I was quoted so much one for tha amount of 3,000!! I went to this site and Robert answered the call. I not only caught me up on my taxes but found that I did not owe anything close to that!! I will be taking my sons to him and my yearly taxes from this point on !! Thanks Robert!

We have a complex tax return (including assets in foreign countries). Due to the complexity of our tax return, we wanted it prepared professionally by someone who could represent us in front of the IRS (should that be required). Mihaela was a great selection. Before immigrating to the U.S., Mihaela was a chartered accountant in Romania. A chartered accountant is much like a CPA in the U.S. That speaks of a depth and breadth of experience you rarely find in a U.S. tax preparer. At a very reasonable rate. We highly recommend Mihaela.

Shawn is awesome!! He takes pride in building a relationship & understanding your business needs, not just getting your business. I own a small business and I was running my payroll services through another prominent company. There was a mistake that I could not identify and every time I called my payroll services company, I got charged for the call and transferred to someone who was supposed to know how to fix the problem. I was referred to Shawn and asked him to look over my accounting. Not only is he knowledgeable & happy to help but he straightened out my payroll and accounting needs with ease. Shawn is now my payroll guy & I'm happy that I switched!

I had been raked over the coals by another CPA on cost and lack of professionalism. Went to Jeanie in frustration. She took the time to look over my prior years returns and explained how to take some additionally tax breaks. Although I personally had done most of my 1040, I decided to let her re-due my return and e-file it. I plan on using her in the future for my S-corp return.

Jan is easy to work with. I pretty much got all I needed to get my accounts straightened out plus help with what I needed for my taxes. Best of all it was MUCH cheaper than my CPA charged me. I would use a good bookkeeper over a CPA any day for a small business. Jan did great and I will use her again.

I cannot begin to adequately express how grateful I am for the help we received from Bonnie when we were doing our taxes for 2017. We had been struggling with a complicated tax situation and tried using TurboTax but even after speaking with a TurboTax CPA directly, we couldn’t get an answer. Thank goodness for Bonnie! Bonnie was so encouraging and even managed to make us laugh while we went through all our documents together. I felt 100% taken care of and my husband and I were so happy in the end that we finally took the plunge and hired a professional. Bonnie is kind, smart, funny, and organized. I appreciated how she managed to cut to the chase and get the job done quickly and painlessly. All the anxiety I had going in to our meeting absolutely disappeared once we started talking through our predicament. I am forever grateful that out of all the people out there who could have done our taxes, Bonnie was the one to help us with ours! Thank you, Bonnie!!!

    About

I am devoted to being an advocate for my clients. It is my goal every day to make sure that my clients know that in addition to being their business partner, I also provide care, compassion, and education to ensure that they can make the best decisions for their unique situation. I consider the relationship between a client and a CPA to be a very trusting, important one. A CPA should do more than just prepare a tax return or provide financial statements from bookkeeping entries...the client should get important advice that helps them keep their personal and business interests on a desired growth trend, as well as tax planning help that will minimize tax burden so more funds are available for their family and business.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire an accountant?

Accountants’ rates vary based on their education, licenses, experience, and the work for which they are being hired. An accountant may charge an hourly rate when a company or individual needs their services on a short-term basis, such as when performing an audit or requesting assistance setting up a financial database or process. Hourly rates can range as widely as $40 per hour to $300 or more per hour, depending on your geographic location and the accountant. Check out the average hourly rate for accounting services in your region.

Accountants may offer a package rate for weekly, monthly or annual services to reward ongoing customers. Many accountants offer online services where small businesses can access online accounting software and payroll assistance, and the accountant — for a monthly or other recurring fee — provides financial analysis and reporting of their numbers. For basic monthly accounting services, an accountant might charge anywhere from $75 to $500 or more, depending on what was included in a given package, the size of the client’s business, and the complexity of work requested. Nationally, full-time staff accountants earn between $40,000 and $80,000, depending on experience and other factors.

    What is an accountant?

Accountants are financial professionals who have received an accounting degree from a four-year university or college. By trade, accountants prepare, maintain and examine the financial statements of an individual, business or institution. An accountant prepares reports for tax purposes and can also perform audits of public companies. Common tasks include creating budgets, analyzing profits and losses of a company, processing payroll, preparing financial statements for company leadership, and creating and maintaining financial database systems for a company.

Accountants do not automatically have a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation unless they have passed the Uniform CPA Examination and received the proper license. Regardless of whether they are CPA certified or not, accountants can assist businesses and individuals with bookkeeping and financial reporting, while CPAs are more knowledgeable in tax codes as a result of the CPA licensing examination and continuing education requirements. CPAs are also eligible to represent clients before the IRS if audit support is required, while a non-CPA accountant is not. Academic background, years in the field and professional reputation all can affect an accountant’s rates.
