Key Concepts sent two crew members to our home and they cleaned the yard up, raked, edged, trimmed and weeded the yard. They also removed a lot of debris from a garden recently rototilled under. We have hired them for bi-monthly yard maintenance and look forward to working with them in the future. The crew was friendly and very eager to take care of a few requests. I would recommend Key Concepts Landscape Maintenance to friends and family.

Fantastic service. Rick and Lloyd arrived early, and then identified and repaired the problem in our sprinklers quickly and with the highest degree of professionalism. The price was very reasonable and we will be calling Turn U Green again whenever we have any sprinkler/lawn care needs.

Omar & his team did a phenomenal job with our acre. Half of it is very landscaped and with the demands of work and all the over growth they managed to whip it right back into shape. They were very cautious with our flowers, gardens, and fruit trees- they ensured to spray what needed and pulled what they couldn't. Worth every penny and I would recommend them to EVERYONE!!

Showed up quickly to do a quote and started work two days later! He really seems to know the plants which is thrilling so many mow and blow yard guys don’t know much about gardening! We are just getting into the job but so far it looks great. Weeds gone plants I wanted to keep still there!

Our backyard had a lot of overgrown blackberry bushes, shrubs and trees and we attempted to clear away the bushes on our own. When the job seemed too much, we decided to go on Thumbtack and find a landscaping business. We found Green Route, LLC . They came over, and we agreed on a price for both the back yard, and minimal weeding in the front yard. Later in the week, they sent a wonderful person to clear away all the bushes, and this increased our backyard space by 10 feet on two sides! He also cleared away the other weeds that were found in the bushes, and took great care to make sure there were no sharp branches laying around, as we have two young children. Now our backyard is ready for gardening, and we will be using this company again for our other needs. Thank you!

Jose did a great great job. I still get sticker shock for what people pay for lawn and garden work here in Portland but Jose came in about the same as others. However, he really knows what he is doing, he's fast, and he communicates very well. He called to confirm he was coming. He's great and I plan to call on him again.

Jason & his partner, Josh, arrived on time, revisited the project & finalized what I wanted done. I look forward to the next time they are here to help put the garden "to bed" for the winter. This time they trimmed some smaller trees that had been poorly treated. I'm sure they'll do much better next season. Glad they're on my 'team!'

Pedro is outstanding. Our yard, which is about 1/4 acre was in bad shape. All my bushes and trees needed trimmed. There were tons of weeds, at least 10 different flower beds that needed cleaned out, weeded and raked. It was a huge job. Pedro showed up early yesterday morning around 8 and completed the entire job by himself, by 6pm. He maintained all my flowers that were already blooming, cleaned out all my beds, he even cleaned up around my raised garden beds, which I told him he didnt have to do, but was thrilled that he did. My yard looks amazing today. And once again he did this all alone. We were so impressed that my husband gave him an extra $100 and we have hired him to do our maintanance every 2 weeks. Pedro is professional, hard working, and understood my vision for my yard. I highly recommend him.

Jaime communicates well. She arrives on time and communicates quickly if something unforeseen comes up. The work she does is excellent. She has great ideas. If there is a garden plant that she is not familiar with, she researches it and brings back the results when she returns. We appreciate someone so knowledgeable, yet so willing to get her hands dirty... literally!

Brittany did design and drawings, and supervised all installation for a large scale backyard relandscape. This included irrigation, plant selection, soil amendment choices, hardscape design, construction supervision (fencing, pergola, water feature, etc. She was knowledgeable, professional, resourceful, tireless and extremely conscientious. Above all, she was creative and the results show. We still love our garden every time we are out in it. It gets better every year.

Thank you, Garden Planning Services, for turning a barren, dusty-in-summer, wading-pool-in-winter driveway space into a beautiful courtyard. I never knew my front space could look so wpnderful! I can hardly wait until spring when I can work with Paula and Denise again to finish off my back yard.

Although we were saddened by the loss of a large tree in our yard, the damages already suffered were not added to by the removal. Our vegetable garden and a neighbor's garden went unharmed; each branch being skillfully directed to its proper location on the ground.

I hired Lindsay to spread compost/mulch over all my garden beds. She arrived right on time and got to work immediately. She worked quickly, professionally, was very focused, and did so with a lot of enthusiasm. She was mindful of the dense plantings, making sure that the compost was evenly spread around all the plants and their crowns not smothered. The job was finished in less time than I anticipated and she cleaned up patio, sidewalks, etc. thoroughly. She is a plant lover and it was a pleasure to work with her.

          Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have landscaping done?

Professional landscaping can help reinvent your outdoor space, boost your curb appeal and get a major return on investment with. Landscaping can encompass anything from adding new plants, trees and shrubs, to leveling the ground and laying sod for a lawn, to building in hardscaping such as sidewalks, water features or retaining walls. The national average landscaping price is $10,160. Landscaping prices can be far lower (with hourly rates ranging from $50 to $150) if you’re only seeking professional help with softscaping or seeking consultation on landscape design. Softscaping means adding or changing horticultural elements, such as planting a garden or adding a hedge. Hardscaping is where costs can really start to rise. Hardscaping requires labor and heavy equipment to excavate the earth; you may need to pour concrete, or you may need a pro who can transport and place gravel and other inorganic elements. Your total landscaping cost will vary based on the amount of work you want done, how much labor is required, and the cost of the materials you are using. A good rule of thumb for a major landscaping project, according to the American Society of Landscape Architects, is to budget 5 percent to 10 percent of the value of your home.

How much does it cost to landscape your front yard?

Prices for landscaping your front yard can range from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars, depending on the scale of your front yard project. Your landscaping price will reflect how much change you implement, how much labor is required, and the cost of materials.

Landscaping is typically made up of softscaping and hardscaping. Softscaping refers to selecting trees, bushes, flowers and plants to achieve a desired aesthetic and to meet goals such as having a drought-tolerant yard. Hardscaping refers to moving earth, installing structures, and putting in decorative stonework, sidewalks or lighting. For softscaping, you may want to hire a landscape designer to consult on your plants and layout, and then do the digging and planting yourself or hire a gardner to handle the heavy lifting. A landscape designer’s hourly rate may range from $50 to $150 or more. If you want a turnkey approach, meaning someone who works with you to create the vision and then executes all the work, landscaping pricing will typically come down to a cost per square foot rather than an hourly rate. It’s a solid investment: Great landscaping can add up to 28 percent value to your home.
