As a fun gift to my family I scheduled a New Orleans style cooking Class with Bonnie . The dish we made was Gumbo Ya Ya.Bonnie brought the dish pre-made and while it was heating she walked us thru every step to make it. In addition to the Gumbo she made another New Orleans treat " muffaletas" We all had an awesome time, the food was great and we all really enjoyed Bonnie.

The event was a plant based cooking class with 10 people preparing a Mexican dinner. Everyone took on at least 2 different dishes and we shared the meal at the end. It was a good group that interacted well with each other and we had a lot of fun. Emily cruised through the different stations answering questions and helping people with their dishes. She spoke with confidence and authority on nutritional facts and food preparation while keeping it light hearted and enjoyable.I would not hesitate a moment to take another one of her classes.

Joslyn helped teach me how to cook! I was a total novice in the kitchen, and used to feel pretty overwhelmed by having to cook for friends and family. Now I love it! Joslyn is extremely patient and will take time to explain the ins and outs of kitchen utensils (the right tool for the right job), help decipher some tricky recipes, and generally get you a on the right track to feeling confident in the kitchen. I couldn't have asked for a better teacher, my only regret is that I've moved away from Oregon. If I come back, I'm definitely resuming classes!

Tina rocks! Her classes are very fun and interactive, chock full of helpful information, and very enlivening. Her food is delicious, beautiful to look at and easy to duplicate in my own kitchen. I appreciate Tina's healthy organic approach and her wealth of knowledge. I always feel inspired and "fed" in more ways than through the tummy! I am a Tina fan!!!

Nathan has taught me cooking skills to "fill-in the gaps" as well as given me confidence to experiment with the new skills he has introduced. Additionally, Nathan has been invaluable and so supportive in dealing with and navigating through non-typical food issues/intolerances ......always with the attitude of .... Yes!! Don't worry. We can make that work and here is how I will teach you!! He has been willing to research anything necessary to do with a specific food issues. And the dishes he comes up with are just fabulous! I am looking forward to my continued work with Nathan.

Freedom's yoga classes at Studio Modern Yoga are quite refreshing and always a nice dose of fun. The approach is delightfully unique and catered to the needs of those in attendance. If you have a physical injury, she'll make sure to check in with you before sending you into a potentially painful pose. She's always been early and patiently waiting for attendees. Even having only occasionally done yoga for the past few years, she's got me doing inversions like I'm a regular practitioner. Freedom radiates a caring and loving energy, and is a pure delight to be around. Best vinyasa yoga teacher I've ever had!

I took Thai and Japanese cooking classes with Noriko, and both were very enjoyable. Noriko is personable, organized, and attentive to details. Explanations of ingredients and procedures were thorough, hands-on time was satisfactory, and the setting comfortable. The crown jewel of my experiences was the wonderful food! I enjoyed beautiful meals and conversation with fellow students, and was able to replicate the dishes at home. This is a testament to the well-written recipe procedures, along with Noriko's instruction. I will be back!

I've had several chances to try the food prepared by Eleanor, and always the food was so delicious. All types of dishes she made whether they were main courses or side dishes, or salads, or pastry or cakes, were very tasty and .... yammy! So any time I hear that the catering will be provided by Eleanor I'm confident the food is going to be delightful and I'll enjoy it. Eleanor's catering has my highest recommendations.

Marc Frech of Spark is not only an experienced and talented chef he has the gift for teaching. Our group enjoyed his company and conversation just as much as the cooking instruction and joy of eating it together. The 3 course dinner had some very sophisticated flavors and texture but not too complicated. Real food, real fresh, and after this class even I could make it and so will. I highly recommend Marc. It was a very enjoyable evening.

Carey taught cooking classes at my cooking school in the Palm Springs area for several years. She is both an excellent teacher and a talented chef, which is the biggest challenge in running a professional cooking school. It is extremely difficult to find both attributes in one person. Her knowledge, professionalism, and quality of cuisine is exceptional, and I highly recommend her services.

Gabriel led an enjoyable and informative cooking class with a focus on zero food waste for our company activity. We learned how to break down and roast whole chickens and make mushroom risotto. There were a total of about 35 of us and my colleagues are still talking about what a great time they had. I highly recommend Gabriel to anyone looking for an engaging and fun culinary adventure.

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.
