Hi, I'm Matt Smallen, a professional handyman based in Portland, Oregon.
I’ve worked full-time in this field since 2017, with experience in nearly every aspect of residential home repair and maintenance. That includes:
Carpentry
Electrical
Drywall
Laminate flooring
Trim & molding
Painting
Doors & windows
Decks & fences

I drive a full-sized one-ton van equipped with heavy-duty, contractor-grade tools, and I can transport most materials as needed.
I offer a 2-year workmanship warranty and carry full liability insurance for your peace of mind.
🔧 Rates:
$65/hour for general handyman services
$85 service call + $85/hour for electrical diagnostics and repairs
Fixed-price quotes available for many common jobs
I genuinely enjoy this work and approach every job with a positive attitude. Growing up, I worked with my father (a third-generation masonry contractor), my grandfather (a carpenter and handyman), and a professional house painting crew.

Matt is great to work with. He’s responsive, knowledgeable and willing to explain options before anything is committed to. We had him do a variety of things (light replacements, baseboards, drywall work and countertops install). The quality of the work is top notch and he was a pleasure to just be around while the work was being done. I’d recommend and rehire him in a heartbeat. Do yourself a favor and see firsthand.
