Introduction: I am the director and founder of Blueberry House. My daughter was diagnosed with a processing disorder when she was in the third grade. That is when I knew I had to step in and do something, or she would never learn how to read and compute numbers. I began tutoring her at home and that became the catalyst for what is now, Blueberry House. We tutor children all over the Portland area. We accept students on IEP's. I am also an Orton Gillingham tutor! Children with dyslexia are finding success with reading and math every day at Blueberry House. Our students are succeeding at rates so high that they can leave their IEP's behind and now move on. If you want tutoring that really counts, we are the ones to get the job done! We were told my son was profoundly dyslexic and the news destroyed me. After looking for someone who offered LIPS tutoring on the Eastside of town, I stumbled upon Tammy at Blueberry House Tutoring. She was able to calm me down and put my mind at ease after just one visit. She didn't see the signs of dyslexia in my son and felt she could help us. We have been seeing her and her staff for just over two years now. It was the best decision I could make for my son. It's hard to say were my son would be academically without Tammy and her staff, but can honestly say he has come a long way over the past two years. We have had a couple different tutors and everyone seems to work well with my son. I would highly recommend Blueberry House Tutoring to anyone!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been in the field for over thirty years, teaching and tutoring. Ten years ago I started a private school for struggling learners. I have sold the school, but the work continues. I am now giving all my time and resources to my founding company, Blueberry House Tutoring. I am certified in Orton Gillingham and love serving our dyslexic students. I have taught in the classroom since 1982. I have taught all grades.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We are most commonly asked whether we can raise Reading and Math scores. The answer to that is a resounding, yes! We teach reading comprehension and reading fluency. We teach Math through pre-algebra. Every tutor has their field of expertise.
