Introduction
Ky Burt is a multi-instrumentalist/singer/songwriter and touring musician based out of the greater Portland region. He has been teaching formally for 5 years now and involved in community music programs previous to that for 6 years. He has been playing music for over 16 years.

I originally went to Ky for harmonica lessons in Flagstaff after playing around with the instrument by myself for a couple of years. I wanted to learn how to play music with others. Ky tailored my lessons to me and taught me the basics. He played guitar along with me so I could get used to playing with people.
Soon after, I picked up guitar and decided to see him for that as well. He was a great instructor for guitar too! Even for a complete beginner like me. He was very patient and helped me pick songs to master and skills to work on in areas where I needed improvement. Most of all, the lessons were fun and not frustrating! I walked out of each lesson feeling challenged, but accomplished and excited by the music we played.
Ky is a very talented musician, teacher, and just a really cool, down to earth guy. Check him out!

'Ky is a knowledgeable and experienced teacher and musician. As a multi-instrumentalist and singer, he has a strong grasp of teaching techniques that make playing string instruments achievable to a wide range of students, from the very beginner to the more advanced. His ability to sing is also helpful, as he teaches his students to play by ear, and to learn how to improvise from songs they hear. I really enjoyed learning the guitar and taking singing lessons from him. He is focused, passionate, and makes playing and practicing music fun! I highly recommend him as a teacher.' Dave Polston

Ky Burt taught my kids ukulele and they loved it! He brought a vareity of instruments that allowed them to explore different sounds. The entire lesson was filled with laughter, singing, and two very happy girls. As a professional musician he was able to quickly and competently adapt to the needs of young kids (ages 3 & 5) and open a whole new world of self expression for them. I plan on having Ky Burt back to continue lessons with my kids once he is back in Colorado on tour.

I recently took a clawhammer banjo from Ky, and was thoroughly impressed. He explained the basics very clearly, and took the time to make sure I understood the concepts. He had many tricks that I would not have figured out on my own, and I am confident that I am a better musician as a result of his teachings.
