I have been teaching guitar in the Portland area since 1996. Previously taught guitar at the Central Community School of the Arts in Arizona and at Portland Community College. I hold a Bachelors in Music from Arizona State University and graduate studies under local guitar great Jerry Hahn at PSU. Two of of my recent students are now music majors at Oregon State University. I teach a variety of styles including finger style chord melody jazz, blues, classical and classic rock. I teach all levels, including beginners. Two of my beginner students who I taught through grade and high school are now college music majors. I recently received a letter from one of them thanking me for where he is now. When he is on summer break, we continue studies.

Tim is fantastic! He is so knowledgeable in music theory and guitar. He is a real, working musician, which my teen son appreciates. He is not your typical music teacher, but is very authentic and passionate and really crafted an individual plan for our son. We hope to continue with Tim for a long time.

I've been taking jazz guitar lessons with Tim since 2013 and have always found him responsive to my musical interests and concerns. He comes to my home every other week and is ready to review and go over material from the previous lesson before approaching and building on prior knowledge and skills. Tim is fluent in all genres of guitar playing from folk to rock to jazz and is well equipped to teach and assist the beginner to the proficient and advanced player. I consider the money I've spent taking guitar lesson with Tim to be money well spent. I think the advances in both my guitar playing and overall knowledge of music and guitar theory is well demonstrated in both the complexity of my playing and the extent of tunes on which I can now draw.
