I would definitely recommend these guys to anyone. Kathryn (Brent's wife) was the contact person & she was very helpful in helping estimate how many movers, trucks, time, cost ect. She was also very flexible when we suddenly had to change our moving date due to delayed closing of our home. We ended up hiring 4 guys from the company to help us with our move. We are a family of 4 & had a lot of stuff to move. These guys worked fast & efficiently and we're still friendly. There was no damage & they went above & beyond helping to assemble bunk beds, shelves, & other random items. Also, they were by FAR the most reasonably priced. We picked up lunch & tipped them each a little extra for their hard work! Overall, this was the most positive moving experience we've had!

Excellent Job - very well done - 3,500 miles across country I found "moving with ease" through Thumbtak. I had a very long distance move. We needed our house contents which were in a 20 x 22 feet storage unit in Vancouver, WA moved to the middle of Florida. I had five quotes from various companies, three of these were through Thumbtak (who I had never used before).. Two of the quotes were from the big removal companies who were very expensive and very thorough. Of the three Thumbtak quotes, moving with ease was the only one who asked to see the storage unit. One of the big companies was there for 3/4 hour doing a full inventory of what needed shipped, Robert (moving with ease) took just over 10 minutes to size it up and gave me a good price within one hour of seeing the storage. We agreed the dates and times I needed and the job was his. Robert and a helper showed up just before the scheduled time on the Sunday and packed everything quickly and efficiently into the truck. I was extremely impressed by Robert's skill of packing the truck tightly and carefully for the minimum of movement. It was like watching Tetris with furniture, boxes and odd shaped items. After two hours, the truck was fully packed to the door and the storage unit was empty. It was amazing - his estimate was spot-on.. Eight days later on the scheduled date, just before the scheduled time, Robert knocked on the door of our new house in Florida. He took a quick look round the house and started work. He was joined by two local movers and they had the truck unloaded, beds assembled, furniture and boxes in place in the house in three hours. They could not have been more helpful. My summary would be, moving with ease is not like the other companies. There is no sales talk, no complications, communication is quick, you ask a question, you get an answer very quickly. No frills, no beating around the bush - no extra charges for piano, TV, Kayak (we had all three) straight to the point, no surprises AND the quote you are given is what you pay. They work hard and get the job done well. I am glad I went with my gut feeling that Robert was a very trustworthy person and ignored the doubts I had of using this small, unknown company. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

I'm almost 7 months pregnant and restricted on weight I can lift. My husband had had a horrible week at work and was exahsted from that and flash packing in a day and a half with me (as we didn't know we had to move so quickly) so we agreed he would help watch our 6 year old, and dogs st the house while I instructed the movers and he'd unpack, and hire movers to do the heavy lifting. In approx. 4 hours, these guys moved our whole apartment of 1300 sf into a 17' truck. And we didnt have small or little amounts of furniture guys! Which they also came and unpacked the truck, all the while refusing to let me or my husband help. I wanted help with mainly big furniture, but these guys took everything they could, including heavy heavy boxes. AMAZING. You guys have got to book these people. So great! So respectful. And nothing was broken, or torn. Thank you Sergio and Abraham! Couldn't have done it without you guys.

Shane and his helper were absolutely amazing. He is a very experienced piano mover and I would highly recommend him to anyone. They were also able to help us move several heavy furniture items when we were falling behind on moving our stuff to our new house. I cannot day enough good things about them and will definitely be using them in the future.

I have moved households 7 times in the last 10 years (military etc), so when this one came up I was dead-set on not doing the hard labor. Costro Moovers showed up, and the team got all my large items loaded and unloaded exactly how I imagined a smooth move would go! Great rates, even worked with us to save some money by recommending less trucks and movers based on our situation. Another company would definitely NOT do that! A++, will call them again in a few years when I have to move again!!!! Castro Movers ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

i was very pleased with the 3-person crew who assisted with my after-move. (I had injured myself while I was unpacking and desperately needed help!). They arrived on time, they got right down to business, and they miraculously navigated a jumble of boxes strewn over every inch of available walking space while simultaneously moving furniture that I had decided would be placed elsewhere in the room or even down a flight of stairs to the garage. The team worked efficiently and were incredibly pleasant to each other and to me. When the furniture moving was completed, we went down to a 2-person crew who helped unpack boxes including fragile items and kitchen items. They were more than happy to accommodate my special needs for placement of these items in light of the injuries I had sustained and my need for accessibility of frequently used items. Many movers are efficient at moving furniture and loading a truck, but in my experience, very few are good at packing or unpacking your items. Jarrett listened carefully to my needs and sent a crew that was attuned to those needs and that knew how to pack and unpack items as well as knowing how best to navigate furniture through a room and up or down stairs. I will not hesitate to call upon Jarrett again for my next move!

Hernandez and Juan moved most of our heavy belonging out of our house in the 5 hours that we hired them for. I would recommend using Hernandez to a friend as they worked quickly and carefully. One bummer though, we overpaid him and he could have noticed it. Our agreement was supposed to be 350 and we paid him 400. Then I I payed him another 40 for a tip. That would have been a good opportunity to realize we paid enough already with the 400. This is what happens when both you and your partner square up with the movers.

Nick and his crew were great. We moved our small office and needed movers to move 4 work stations. When the movers arrived, they quickly realized that the disassembly/reassembly was much more difficult than they anticipated. They called in extra crew and got it done. They had great attitudes the entire time even though the job was challenging and it was pouring down rain all day. Would definitely recommend them again.

Budget Movers was very easy to work with. They were even able to accommodate changing my move date. On the day of the move they showed up on time. The crew was really nice and they worked hard. They were quick but still careful with my belongings. The price seemed fair and they were better than other movers I've used before. I would definitely use them again.

Mike and his team were absolutely awesome! They arrived on time and worked the entire day for me. They wrapped all of my furniture with blankets, protected my floors with red carpet and even had these special door pads to cover our front door! They were extremely effiecient and worked in the blazing heat! My overall experience was just amazing. They’re very affordable for the work they do. My last move, I paid double the price per hour and the movers weren’t even half as good. I’ll defiantly be using this crew again if I ever plan on moving in the future.

Had my 7 piece bed delivered by Will and Dalton from PDX Movers. They were extremely professional, careful and efficient. They carried all 7 pieces of furniture up to 3rd floor. They are very careful not to snag any walls or scratch the hard wood floors. They were very courteous, took off their shoes in the house not to drag any dirt. Overall they were very friendly and was a pleasure to deal with. I would highly recommend PDX Movers and especially the movers themselves Will and Dalton!

I used NW Relocation for my move recently. I hired them because I wanted to get a stress free and smooth move within the deadline. However I have used other movers before but they just ruined my move but this time it was a different story. Movers did very well to move all my things at Utah from Washington within the scheduled time. It was even better to notice that all my belongings were in perfect condition. No touch up needed at anything. I liked their accuracy and calmness during the move. I must admit that these movers know how to manage a move in a difficult situation. I am impressed and that is why I am recommending NW Relocation because I want them to impress more people like me.

My movers just left and requested a review as quickly as possible. I assured them that I would provide then with a 10 out of 5 star rating. Most importantly, the young men were respectful to my husband and I. I am 67 years old so I was on the young men from start to finish - making sure they were respectful of my belongings and home. They wrapped all of my furniture and assisting with packing items that were not packed upon their arrival. I did notice a small hole in the wall at the pick up address. Tight corners so I did not complain. But I did want them to know that I noticed. Other than that, my belongings arrived in great shape. I will recommend to my friend Margaret who will be moving in about 2 weeks. I informed her to request Mark and Stephen. Thanks again for your hard work. Spend your tip wisely.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

  • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
  • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
  • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
  • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
  • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.
