Just know that equipment doesn't make the engineer. Determine whether you can trust his or her skills, experience, knowledge and ears with your project.

There's an art to what we do. It's fine to have a certain desired sound or a clear vision but sometimes it can be beneficial to have the engineer mix a version with some creative freedom as well.
