I’m a trained certified chef with over 20 years of professional cooking experience in a variety of settings. I have catered for celebrities, 300+ person events, weddings, and have been a private chef all over the world for many years. I also owned and operated Urban Roots PDX, a weekly allergen-friendly meal delivery service, for 4 years here in Portland. My focus is still on creating 100% customized menus for my clients individual needs and helping those with food allergies stay on a healthy eating track. If you are looking to have someone craft a delicious multi-course dining experience, Chef Ryan is your guy. We hired Chef Ryan to host an intimate elopement reception dinner for 14 people on our back deck and it was the best decision we made. Chef Ryan sent us sample menus that we were able to use to curate our own menu and I have to say our eyes ended up being bigger than our stomachs. We went with a seared ahi appetizer, Dungeness crab bib cocktail, chopped salad, pan seared sea bass with garlic mash potatoes, and creme brulee. We reached out to him to discuss logistics as we were going to be at the venue during the time he would be coming by to prepare for service. He was flexible and accommodating despite the fact that we were running nearly a hour behind schedule returning from the venue. We communicated with him and he timed everything perfectly for our arrival. WOW... is all we and all of our guests had to say. Both of the appetizers were absolutely delightful. The sea bass was cooked to perfection and the creme brulee was "the best" that many of us have ever had. Many of our guests continued to talk about how surprised they were by the food and wanted to order his creme brulee to take home throughout the weekend. Thank you Chef Ryan for delivering a lovely experience through your delicious food that was the icing on our special day!

Chef Ryan absolutely killed this dinner! I had asked Ryan if he could recreate my wife’s favorite from one of her top restaurants in San Diego for her 40th birthday party. He nailed it, the food was incredible. He is a very kind person and we all very much enjoyed the delicious food he made for us. I can’t thank Chef Ryan enough for making my wife’s 40th birthday party memorable.

Chef Ryan was so amazing to work with for my wife's birthday party. Not only did he design an amazing menu after hearing out my parties restrictive dietary needs, but he was extremely punctual and responsive. I swear he left my kitchen cleaner than how he found it and we had the house detailed by cleaners the day before. Could not rate the quality of the cooking higher. My family considers themselves foodies and great chefs themselves and everyone was blown away by the quality. If you are the on the fence, do yourself the favor and hire Chef Ryan and show everyone you know how to throw a party!

For weekly personal chef services, pricing ranges from $250-$325/wk + the cost of groceries. Depends on the level of food restrictions and how many different types of meals are requested. Service fee includes, menu planning, shopping, cooking, packaging, cleaning/sanitizing.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Client contacts me, we set up a phone call to discuss your individual needs, schedule a time to stop by your house to take inventory, hash out details, confirm pricing and choose a start date and time to cook.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a culinary arts degree from Fox Valley Tech in Wisconsin, where I am originally from.
