I have been working with Mel twice a week for seven months. She is knowledgeable, confident, and in-tuned with my needs.
First I would like to say I was diagnosed with primary progressive ms two years ago at the age of 62. I have always been active with biking, hiking, running and playing golf but my symptoms left me with limited abilities. I decided to find a personal trainer to see if I could improve my quality of life.
Since working with Mel seven months ago and she has found my strength. My endurance is much better, my balance even impressed my neurologist. I am back to bike riding.
If you are looking for a dedicated personal trainer, check out Mel. Her goals is to help her clients in having a better quality of life. She has definitely improved mine. She is my life time commitment.

We first met Melanie when we attended a tour at Town Center Village, a retirement community in Happy Valley, Oregon. She, as a Personal Fitness Director there, got us involved in a Summer Games Fitness program she was conducting at that time, and introduced us to the many fitness activities available to us. I had limited movement in my shoulder, and assessing my problem, Melanie put me on weight resistant machines, water aerobics and exercises to strengthen and tone my body. I have regained my muscle tone, regained full movement of my shoulders, and Melanie has proven that she not only has the experience, training, and ability to help people but most importantly, has truly cared about my health and has proven to be a wonderful friend. I have witnessed her interaction with other residents here and can attest to her quality of work and care in helping the senior generation. I would not hesitate to recommend Melanie for any physical training.

Mel is an awesome trainer. She is passionate about what she does and takes time to understand the individual she's working with. I came to her looking to become a stronger water polo player. She drew on her past experience with my sport and designed workouts tailored to what I would be doing. Overall, my experience has been amazing and I've gotten much stronger in a short amount of time!

My wife and I have been training with Melanie Cooke for about two and a half months. We located her on Thumb Tack after moving to our current residence from another city. We were interested in finding a personal trainer who is experienced in working with senior clients. Melanie has turned out to be the perfect choice. She has worked with seniors for many years as an employee of a retirement facility and in other settings. She is sensitive to our individual training needs and has tailored our workout programs to fit those needs. She recognizes our limitations but constantly challenges us to push for improvement. Her emphasis in training us has been primarily working on balance and strength training with weights. Mel has been willing to accommodate us by coming to our condominium twice a week where we have fitness facilities available. Both my wife and I feel fortunate to have found her on Thumb Tack. We highly recommend Melanie Cooke, especially for seniors who are looking to maintain and improve mobility and strength.

Melanie is a wonderful personal trainer. I've worked with Melanie for over six years and my conditioning has improved greatly. Melanie knows how to motivate and get results. She is easy to work with, but be prepared to work! You will see great outcomes.
