Jesse is not only exceedingly knowledgeable but he obviously cares a great deal about the student's progression. His energy and enthusiasm are inspiring and he is talented beyond his years. I feel quite fortunate to be able to take voice lessons from a teacher of this caliber.

I have been in choirs and in various other musical settings for 12 years and have experienced many different teaching styles. When I initially started individual voice lessons, I was with an instructor who had a "one teaching method, fits all" approach to teaching. After about 4 months of lessons, I gave up and began looking for a new instructor... someone who would identify my weak points and help me develop a stronger, more balanced voice. After many, many initial interviews, I was very discouraged... until I met Emily. Emily invests in her students. She came up with a daily vocal routine specifically tailored to me and remained in constant communication with me about any questions I had. Not only is she continuously helping me identify my struggles and build technique but she also has taken the time to show me that I have many options of making it as a serious musician. Because of her, I am in the process of re-evaluating my whole academic plan. I am so grateful to have found such an amazing, talented, and skilled instructor! I am learning so much from her continuously!

My daughter is 12 years old and absolutely loves working with Judy Malings for her voice lessons. It's been over 1 year now and I've seen incredible singing improvement and on-stage confidence in her. Judy is talented, organized, and truly cares about maximizing the voice sessions for her students benefit. Judy's singing showcase events are very professional and fun. They're a wonderful display for parents to see the amazing progress in their kids singing talent. Judy Malings is a great mentor for music and voice!

Sofia is very knowledge and takes the time to make sure students understand the ideas and mechanics behind her training and how their instrument functions. I've taken professional voice lessons before abs she is as good or better than my previous teacher. I'm looking forward to many more lessons with her!

I have had 2 singing lessons so far from Eleni. I feel that I am improving already! She is very skilled and observant and can see quickly where I am holding tension and help guide me how to relax both physically and mentally in ways that instantly effect my voice in positive ways. I am very excited to continue working with her and I highly recommend her as a teacher. She is experienced, highly knowledgeable, friendly and comfortable to be around and effective!!

My 4 year old son and I get lessons from Nyssa. I do voice. I have learned a lot from Nyssa. She is very knowledgeable, patient and so encouraging! My son is doing Wunderkeys(preschool piano)with Nyssa. He has limited motor skills and this has really helped him make great progress. I see growth in that he is doing things with his hands that he had trouble with in the past. She works really well with him as well. My husband calls it my son's "occupational therapy." I would recommend her 100%

Helen, was AMAZING, she taught my 6 yr daughter her first piano lesson. We were going to try out a few different teachers, but after meeting her, I have no interest going anywhere else. Thank you for being so friendly and so talented! <3 A few things that were important to me were, 1. She could connect with my 6 year old. 2. That she could teach syllabus. 3. That she has opportunities for her students to perform during the year. She met all three of those. :)

I highly recommend Tim Smith as a teacher in many areas of music. I am so elated to be taking cello lessons with this fine teacher! Tim is multi-talented and able to challenge me through every level of musical growth. I appreciate his individual teaching style which allows each student to progress at their own personal rate. He is flexible and accommodating with lesson times and his rates are right in line with the local teaching market.

Honestly, I have no voice, I sound flat, but when I started voice lessons with Bre a whole new world opened up for me! I am no longer afraid to sing. Anyone wanting to explore singing and improve upon their talents should sign up for lessons while she still is taking students. She is filled with such joy for music and no matter how hard it is for you, she will elevate you to your next level.

My Daughter went from never playing an instrument to being proficient on her trumpet in 8 months. Her band teacher is so impressed. Much of her understanding of music comes from her voice and trumpet lessons with Ms. Valardi. She is branching out into piano this summer and has even attempted to write her own solo. A music teacher that understands the excitement of a student and balances that with foundation is a wonderful thing to find. Ms Valardi is just that.

I took private piano lessons with Tamara for 5 1/2 years. She is very patient and willing to teach students to play whatever genre of music they want to learn whether it's classical, jazz, contemporary, Disney, etc. Her patient, kind-hearted nature works well with students of all ages. She is also quite flexible in regard to scheduling; if you can't make it to a lesson, she makes every effort to schedule a make-up lesson.

Christina is a great teacher who worked well with my daughter and effectively helped her grow in her singing ability while maintaining a positive learning environment during each lesson. I appreciated especially Christina's care for vocal health and stressing the importance of whole body support for the voice. She was patient and careful to details about each aspect of every song. My daughter improved greatly in her ability to interpret expression and pronunciation of songs in other languages. We miss you, Christina!

I’ve been taking voice lessons on and off for over 20 years in 4 different states with many different instructors. Anya is perhaps the most gifted, knowledgeable and relatable instructor I’ve ever had and I would recommend her to anyone from beginner to advanced! Truly a positive experience in so many ways. So happy to have found her!

About

Hello, my name is Alexander. I teach general healthy singing technique, supported by current vocal science, which can be applied to any style of music. I have a Masters in Music from the University of Southern California where I received training in opera performance, music theory, and vocal pedagogy. With over 10 years of performance experience and 4 years of teaching students of all ages, I am confident we can turn your voice into something you are proud of. Lessons are taught out of my studio in SE Portland, between Tigard and Lake Oswego, near PCC. I am fortunate to have access to a beautiful, acoustically treated music room, complete with a baby grand piano and recording equipment, as a space for teaching my lessons. I can also travel to students' homes in the surrounding area for an added fee, provided that a piano is available (electric is fine). I work with new students to establish proper breath support, healthy vocalization, and resonance for a solid foundation that will make singing in any style painless and easy. With these new habits, you will find your range increasing, your breath lasting longer, and your voice sounding richer and louder. As we progress, we will learn new songs in a variety of styles to expand your repertoire, explore singing in other languages, and create opportunities for you to perform and show off your new skills! I also offer Music Theory, College Prep for Musicians, Diction Coaching, Voice Acting, and other lessons at the same rate, contact me for details.
