FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
If the recording is of a 5 piece band, I usually like to set up & dial everything in on day one and record on day two. If I'm working with a vocalist, and the person doesn't have any current recordings, I would want to hear them singing various styles of music before we begin writing/recording.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
A lifetime of experience. I performed on my first record LP, at the age of 18 ('81). I would eventually record apx. 10 additional groups on my 4 track reel to reel recorder. Further recordings were done live to a stereo deck. It was in the year 2000 that I purchased some software for multi-track recording and began to familiarize myself with the digital format. The past 15 years have included: mastering the art of tracking in order to achieve what I call; the platinum take. Helping a studio owner with their tracking & mixing skills.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
People who made demo recordings in the '80s, never refereed to themselves as a producer. They would say things like: "lets make a recording" or "let me record your band" .. tittles such as producer & mixing engineer were reserved for the fine print credits on the back side of album covers. If there was a more accurate titling system, where people were given the producer/writer, producer/engineer tittle based on the quality of their final product, very few people would be included. A link to my most recent recording is provided, and should answer any questions about the quality of my work.
