Introduction: I understand the very fine line between a wedding as a "party" and a wedding as a "solemn moment of commitment." And it shows when I officiate at a wedding...there is laughter and fun, but also a recognition of the seriousness of the moment. I love helping people...and walking with people through the transitional events of life.

I have not worked with Doug in the Wedding arena, but I have worked with him for over 6 years in the funeral service industry. I am a funeral director, and am charged with the difficult task of providing families the care and precision of coordinating a flawless, positively memorable tribute to their loved ones. As you can imagine I am obsessed with perfection, and am not easy to entrust the families I serve to just anybody. I cannot count the number of families Doug has helped me serve over the years with professionalism and genuine care. I often recommend his services in the event a family does not have an officiate in mind for their loved one's service. I'm sure you have heard the nightmarish line, "I never knew [insert name here], but have been asked to preside over this service..." Never will you hear these words escape Doug's lips. He will make it a point to get to know the individual through in-home meetings with the family, and no one at the service would suspect Doug was anything other than a longtime family friend. When I got married I truly wished for Doug to do the ceremony but we were married far out of town, and my husband's family had some loyalties to a priest who had presided over every marriage in the family. (Otherwise, I would have GLADLY paid his way to our wedding!) If you choose to allow Doug the honor of working with you toward your special day, I can assure you, with complete confidence, that you will not be disappointed.

Doug officiated at my daughter's wedding last summer. He was the best! He injected enough humor with the seriousness of the vows being made. I would have Doug officiate at my wedding, if I was to get married again!!! THE BEST!!!

Doug was recommended to us when we were looking for someone who could officiate our wedding. We wanted to have a Christmas Eve wedding and were worried that we wouldn't be able to find someone who would sacrifice their time during the holiday for us. From the first meeting, Doug was exactly the person we wanted. He is very easy to talk to, professional, and made our ceremony exactly what we wanted it to be. We have recommended Doug to friends who are planning their wedding and have been fortunate to see him bring the same excellence to their celebrations.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I wouldn't consider my pricing system particularly complicated, but you can see my fees on my website.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I became a wedding and funeral officiant because, when I was a parish minister those were the events at which I excelled. I discovered I have a real gift for weddings and funerals/memorials...and after leaving parish ministry, decided to put my gift to work.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Your wedding is YOUR day... Make it a celebration...have fun...be serious when necessary. And hire someone (like me) who will connect well with you...who has enough experience at this to function as officiant, wedding-coordinator, music coordinator, anything that is needed on the day of the event. I guess most of all I'd say "I'm your guy"...well, at least for the wedding and any rehearsal beforehand...
