FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I do. I charge by the term; there are payment plans available. There are 10 private lessons in a term and 8 bi-weekly group classes. (There are 18 meetings over the course of the term.) The total cost is $200.00. A family does not have to commit to the group class, but the base rate for lessons remains the same. It is so important to have a firm foundation and this is my way of encouraging this. Music takes time, patience, and commitment. I find that when people are committed for a longer period of time, with regular and consistent feedback, they are more likely to succeed.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I want my students to succeed. I want them to start a skill and master it. I want this to be something they can pack away in their collection of life experiences and take out when they want to. This means that the teacher/student/family fit must be a good one. Before enrolling a student, I like to meet and get to know each other a little bit. This is typically about 30 minutes and is free of charge. We do a little bit of music, little bit of listening and sometimes play a musical game. This is an opportunity for parents to ask questions and for me to share my studio policies.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have studied Music Performance and Music Education at the University level. (Cal State Fullerton and La Sierra University.) I have taught music for 12 years now. I play in two regularly performing ensembles. I am a registered Music Together Teacher and I have observed more than 275 hours of master Suzuki teaching. I will begin my formal Suzuki Training this summer.
