Absolutely top notch. And I'm picky. I got top quality. Honest, respectful, reliable. Fair price, delivered exactly as promised. Cleaned a huge tri level home, including cabinets & drawers inside and out, 31/2 bathrooms, tile, laminate, mirrors, appliances, windows inside and out, deck and hard scape. He said it would be perfect and it is. Best carpet cleaning I've ever had, wished he had been cleaning my carpets all along. Highest recommendation. Many thanks, Alexander

AM Professional Cleaning was AMAZING and way better than I expected. I lived in a house with four other college students. In the three years people moved in and we probably did a total of 2 halfway decent deep cleans. Needless to say, when we moved all the furniture out, the house was A MESS. The oven was a disaster of old forgotten pizzas and cheese burnt on the bottom, the fridge had old moldy food everywhere, the floor was caked with dirt and unknown substances, the shower had old year old shampoo/conditioner caked on the shelves & mold on the shower door, the floor of the bathroom was covered with a mud face mask my roommate spilled and walked over with wet boots millions of times, etc. etc. I'm not even sure how I lived there for so long. Anyway, AM Professional Cleaning called me to tell me they were on their way, brought all their own gear and were very friendly while entering my house. I walked them through (very embarrassed) and showed them the state of my house & explained what I wanted them to do. I said just wipe down the appliances in and out and sweep and mop the floors, no big deal. When I came back two hours later I WAS SHOKED and in awe. The house was the cleanest I have EVER seen it. The fridge looked brand new, the oven had not even a speck of dirt or old food on it, every shelf from top to bottom was cleaned out, the bathroom was INCREDIBLE with no mold, no old shampoo, nothing other than the color white. I did not want to move! I even took my shoes off before I entered the house because I didn't want to ruin the pristine floors. They even went above and beyond and cleaned the light fixtures and lightly cleaned the windows even though I told them they don't have to touch the windows. In summary, they gave me one of the lowest prices on thumbtack, they were efficient in responding to my texts for scheduling, they showed up on time and they did an AMAZING job and it took them half the amount of time it would have taken me. I'm so happy with all the work they did and I can't thank them enough!

I was very pleased with the window replacement Danny and his partner at West Coast Windows did today. They showed up when they said they would and went right to work with a minimum of fuss and with care for my house and its antique wood-framed windows. The price was very reasonable given that they had already come out for one walkthrough to measure the window and estimate the job, then had a two-man team working on the inside and outside of the window, and went above and beyond by also fixing the broken part of the sash that had been separated in the incident. I felt that the communication was excellent throughout the process. From my experience, I believe that these are honest guys who can be trusted to do good work at a good price. I plan to keep them on speed dial in case we need any other window repairs in the future.

Daniel installed three windows for me at my house. The current windows were very old, so he had to go above and beyond to make the new windows work. The responsiveness, quality of work and the attention to details was stellar and I’d recommend him to any and everyone. Great work!

Quoted me a great price for the windows I wanted. Other companies quoted me double the price for the same windows. They came on time and finished 12 windows in 1 day. They were clean and professional. Communication with them was fantastic. I would highly recommend. You should read reviews and shop around before you make a decision on a major window project.

Logan gave me a thorough estimate and walk through on the work I wanted done-- wood casing added to exterior windows. He was generous with his time, very knowledgeable, and trustworthy. His estimate was "worst case," so he came in under budget. I would absolutely recommend working with Logan!

there isn't going to be room for all the great things we have to say about Eric Fowler. Quick to respond by both phone and email. Came to the house a gave a quote the next day. send a text apologizing that he was going to be 10 minutes late - who is that courteous anymore? a very reasonable quote, made sure we signed a contract to protect us both. He started the next day !!! He asked lots of questions to make sure he understood what we wanted and inquired at several intervals wondering if the work completed to date was to our satisfaction. we now have excellent storage shelves in the garage and 2 other locations, doors and windows that work, new and freshly painted linen drawers and many other upgrades. Eric is polite, a hard worker, and honest. He is knowledgeable regarding how to do the job the right way but also has tips to help save you $$. He and his crew cleaned up after themselves and were a pleasure to have in our home We now have an "Eric list" for all of our next projects we are lining up. He has so many great reviews, we'll be lucky to get him back. Hiring Fresh Painting and Remodeling for your next project is a no brainer.

Lino did an excellent job of cleaning up and preparing my rental house for occupancy after it was vacated without being properly cleaned or cared for. He did major cleaning in the kitchen, painting and wall touch-up in the living room, minor cupboard and storm window repair; and cleaning of gutters and debris left behind by previous tenants. He came to the job exactly at the time promised, worked diligently, and completed the work on time. He asked me about a couple of things I had overlooked--and agreed to take care of them. I was completely satisfied with the quality, time required, and cost of the work Lino completed. I will definitely use him again and have no reservations in commending him for the good work he did on my house.

Good crew of strong young men tore out my old kitchen walls and popcorn ceiling. Provided extra help to lift and place a big new support beam in attic. Cleaned up well afterwards. They came back to install new sheetrock for ceiling and walls. Excellent work! Then the mudding and finish work was done by a VERY experienced, high quality pro who did a beautiful job! So nice. Hardly any sanding, so less dust. He is like a "secret weapon" to finish a great job! Leftcoast hauled away our debris pile too!

If I could give six stars I would! Ismael and his crew were professional, punctual, helpful and friendly. They always showed up on time and cleaned up at the end of the day. They put in long hours and worked diligently turning my 95 year old home into a showpiece! Ismale came out on a Sunday, his day off, to help with a window that was slightly stuck after painting so I can get my air conditioner back in before temperatures rose to over 90 today! In my book that's going extra mile!! I couldn't be more pleased with the work that Malle painting did. It was money well spent and I would recommend them highly to anyone who needs work done. Thank you Ismael and crew!

Phil was fantastic! He was running a few minutes behind but called and told me he would be a few minutes late and apologized. No worries from my perspective, I was glad he called and it made me feel good about hiring him. He showed up about 10 minutes after our agreed upon time - no big deal at all. He fixed a window frame that our puppy chewed through and it looks like new! Phil also put new lights in our walk in closet and fixed our guest room closet doors. Small jobs but we have many more handyman type projects that we'll be sure to have Phil take care of for us. I would highly recommend Phil, he does great work, is efficient, and takes pride in doing it right. Plus, he's a great guy who I enjoyed talking with.

I've worked in tandem with Greg on several design projects over the past five years and can speak with confidence that our time together has always been well spent and has always resulted in beautiful finished work, all well within budget, and each piece very much to our mutual clients' satisfaction. Two memorable jobs: Custom-crafted soft, upholstered pelmets for installation above living room, dining room, and kitchen windows - Greg and I worked with a local upholsterer to create modern and chic window coverings which added a special crowning touch to a few rooms in a North Portland home. The experience could have been harrowing, given how many hands were in the pie, but instead it was a real delight...with all parties working together to define style, dimension, craftsmanship and quality. Greg stayed right on top of second and third measurements, ensuring that everyone stayed on the same page. This was essential for a fine custom fit. These pelmets have stood the test of time, in terms of style and physical wear. Very happy with end product! Custom-built Dining Table - Greg and I worked together with our client to define a style that she loved and would want around for a long time. She'd seen a particular style of table that she just couldn't quite afford...and she'd never seen the table in exactly the kind of color scheme she wanted (sort of earthy jewel tones). We worked together to define style and also color combination, created the perfect size and height of table for her smallish eating space, and then Greg went to town working and re-working the legs and other joining parts until it met our clients' expectations to the nth degree. When we saw the finished piece we couldn't help but feel a huge sense of pride...it was really beautiful, fit the bill as per style and color scheme, and we all knew it came out an heirloom piece!

Roman has done several projects for us over the past year. He built a beautiful deck and did most of our remodel all by himself! He basically had to rebuild all the walls on the back of our house due to dry rot damage and remove and replace several windows. He laid laminate flooring, painted our bathrooms, installed shower doors and new plumbing fixtures. He also replaced a couple of ceiling light fixtures. He offered opinions that were money saving also and stayed within the estimate so we weren't surprised in the end. He continues to be there sometimes next day if I need something else done. He is even going to work on my RV inside today repairing counters! One more thing...he actually shows up on time and communicates his schedule!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you replace a window?

You may want to replace a window if the glass has been damaged, you’re remodeling a room, or you want to upgrade your energy efficiency as well as your style by getting rid of those drafty single panes that are losing you money. When replacing a window, you can remove and replace the entire window down to the house frame. This method is best if the existing frame is damaged or deteriorating, but requires construction skills and know-how and will take more time and money. An easier and less expensive option is to install an insert replacement window into the existing frame. Insert replacements are only an option if your window frame is in good condition without rot or damage.

When replacing an entire window, first you’ll carefully remove the existing window with a pry bar and other tools. Next, you’ll make any repairs and adjustments needed to the existing frame or header and studs to ensure that the space is perfectly plumb and square, so the new window will sit perfectly within the space. Next, install the new window from the exterior, securing it into place. You’ll need to precisely wrap and insulate the window to ensure it doesn’t leak. Then, install the interior casing and exterior trim (as needed). If you prefer to hire a professional to install a window, consider replacing more than one window at a time, as the pro can work more efficiently.

How much is a custom window?

Choosing custom windows will increase your window installation cost but will provide you with exactly what you want. The average national cost for window installation is $2,650. Your custom window costs will vary based on several factors. The first factor is the type of frame you want. The four most common types of frames are vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum and wood. Wood is typically the most expensive option, followed by aluminum. The type of glass you select will also affect cost. There are single-, double- and triple-pane windows. Most double- and triple-pane windows have gas sealed between the panes that act as insulation. Windows typically cost more the more energy-efficient they are, though this efficiency can save you money on utility bills in the long run. The type of glass used can also affect cost. There are different grades of glass — high-performance glass, low-e coated glass, and more — which all provide you with better insulation. In addition, the number of unified inches (window height x window width) you need will affect cost. The cost of custom windows will also be affected by installation cost and whether any repair or construction work is required to properly fit the new window.

How much would it cost to put in new windows?

The cost to replace a window can vary depending on factors such as window size, type of glass, brand of window, necessary trim repair, and any construction work required for installation. Labor rates and cost to do business in your region will also affect the cost. The national average window installation cost is $2,650 per project. Here are some examples of average trim repair and window replacement costs:

  • Trim repair:
    • Line and case a window frame with an MDF product: $400.
    • Line and case a window frame with raw hemlock wood: $500.
  • Approximate cost to install five windows at one time: $3,000.
  • Approximate cost to install one double-hung, energy-efficient 3-foot by 4-foot window: $500-$550.
    • For the same window size (3-foot by 4-foot) from a different manufacturer made with a specialty fiberglass exterior and all-wood interior, the cost could go up to $1,500.
    • Pricing can go as high as $5,000 for a bay or bow window with specialty glass and framing.
      • These examples include removal and disposal of old materials and window.
