Bridget was very quick to contact me and had good insightMay 25, 2017
I couldn't be happier with the services Bridget provided. When it comes to knowing how to communicate with a dog, Bridget is phenomenal. We contacted Bridget after she sent us an offer to help us with our dog Kody through Thumbtack. We had recently adopted Kody (7 month old Male Siberian Husky) as a playmate for Dakota (6 month old Husky). We later found out he had been chained up outside for most of his short life. He had no kind of guidance or training. He turned out to be a handful, he would run for the door whenever it opened, he would counter surf for anything on it, he snatched a plate of chicken right out of my hand, he would dominate his playmate Dakota, he would take toys from all 3 of our other dogs and he would nip at your hand & back talk you whenever you try to correct him or try to get him to stop doing something. Bridgetâs offer was a set price for 3 to 4 hours of her time to help teach us how to communicate with our dogs & help us teach them to be a better dog. When I spoke to Bridget about helping, my main concern was Kody & a little with Dakota (with the way they played). When Bridget came to our house she seen some issues with our other 2 dogs Nakita (12 Yr. old Husky) & Fiona (4 Yr. old Min. pinscher). She helped us with all 4 dogs and stayed for 6 hours. In my opinion, she went above and beyond what we expected. I would say 60-80% of the training was for us. Showing us how to handle the different situations and get the dogs to respond the way we wanted them too. Bridget is very knowledgeable when it comes to a dogâs behavior. She spent time on each issue we were having and made sure we understood why we were doing the different things we needed to do to correct the dogs behavior. Within 5-10 minutes of putting food on the floor, Bridget had Kody lying on the floor while she walked over and talked to us and Kody never bothered with the food. We only had Kody for 2 weeks when Bridget came to help us. In those 2 weeks we almost found Kody a new home because he was just too much to handle. Thanks to Bridget, we kept Kody and he is doing SO much better. He is not obsessed with food anymore, He only got on the counter 1 time (took an empty plastic bowl), he does great on walks (which he loves to do). He is by far a much better dog then he was a few weeks ago. Bridget is exceptional in the way she communicates with the dogs. She has a way about her that the dogs just respond to. She is a down to earth person that is just great to work with. She makes you feel comfortable while teaching you and your dogs, which makes it much easier to learn. She was a blessing to our family and she could be one for yours too. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Bridget for any help you may need with your pet. Thank You Bridget Bruce, Julie, Nakita, Fiona, Kody, DakotaJul 9, 2015Verified
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?By performing continuing field studies with dogs I find there is always something new to learn about animals - their way of life and being. I research all current international animal studies and documentaries.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I have been rescuing animals since I was a child. Any animal that was in my path that needed help, I rescued. I always had a love for all animals and always found that I shared a special connection with them, especially dogs. I am a strong advocate for the animals. I encourage people to adopt from shelters as astronomical amounts of animals are euthanized each year. Most people are hesitant to adopt from shelters in fear of behavioral problems, but it has been my experience that there are just as many dogs that are raised from puppies that are purchased from either breeders or pet stores that wind up developing the same behavior issues as shelter dogs.
- What types of customers have you worked with?I rehabilitate dogs with aggression, fear, and/or anxiety. I teach people how to control their Unruly dog. I teach people how to properly train their puppies just like their own Mama would train them. I teach people to understand their dogs and how to communicate to them properly in which the dog will learn and respect the rules of the house.
