Faucet repair. Charles was quick to respond and efficient. He was also very helpful with a few minor repairs around the house and had great suggestions on a few bigger projects we need to have done.

House Appliance Repairs is exactly the type of company you hope is coming to your house to do a repair. Our refrigerator stopped working and House Appliance Repair came the very next day. He knew exactly what was wrong and immediately ordered the part. He is very reasonably priced, honest, courteous and super professional. We highly recommend this company.

I am very happy with the work that Steve did. He was knowledgeable, friendly and flexible on scheduling. His fees were fair, and he was up front about pricing. Steve even came out on a Saturday to finish our repair and did not charge extra for weekend hours. I will definitely call him again if I need an appliance repaired.

Don't look any further!!! Brian is so knowledgeable on so many aspects of home repair. We are selling our home and he has been repairing so many red flags that inspectors would find. I want to adopt him into our family. It's hard to find someone so honest , reliable and competent,. Thanks Brian and we will meet again.

Tom is an A+ professional who takes pride in his craft. We first hired Tom to repair a living room wall after our furnace malfunctioned and flooded our basement, which resulted in mold remediation. Tom replaced the dry wall, matched the paint color and was able to find a match to the 80 year old baseboard! He did a beautiful job. We then decided to finish our basement into a "man cave". Again, Tom went beyond our expectations. He is very easy to work with, informative throughout the process and extremely neat. He is truly a master at his craft!

I found Keith Thumbtack. He was the first to respond to my request as well as the least expensive quote. Keith repaired a hole in my ceiling that was left by plumbers fixing a leak. He arrived on time on the scheduled day, worked fast and clean, and finished the job in less than 3 hours. I am glad I found him as I will surely use Keith in the future for other home improvement work and or repairs. Hire Keith's Handyman & Construction Services with confidence in his ability and professionalism. 100% satisfied. Thanks Keith!!!

Tech Jimmy was friendly, honest and experienced. The refrigerator is +/- 30 years old and has another issue. Jimmy explained that it would probably cost about $900. to repair and that it would be my decision as to what to do.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

    • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
    • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
    • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

    How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
