Mike did a great job with our project which was repairing and painting walls in our bathroom, putting up new towel bars and installing a new medicine cabinet. He was professional, completed the work on time and on budget and was a pleasure to work with. We would not hesitate to hire him again as we are very pleased with the result.

Sewell did a great job on the attic ladder. He showed up exactly at 1:30pm as he said he would. It took more time than anticipated because of the way ceiling frames had to be cut and adjusted. He still didn't charge extra for the complexity. I highly recommend him.

I hired Thomas to do a floor to ceiling custom built in with a window seat. I had provided incorrect measurements originally but he did an onsite visit prior to beginning his work and was able to adjust all measurements accordingly and make a gorgeous built in piece of furniture. We realized that he was more adept to handle many of our projects that we had hired other contractors do so we hired him to do additional work and to redo some work that had already been done. He stuck to the schedule that we set forth, was great at communicating, was extremely helpful at assessing situations and providing recommendations. We are very grateful and appreciative for the work that he did on the built in, our cabinet installation our vinyl floor installation, and many other small things around the house! Thanks to Thomas many aspects of our home will be wonderful. If you would like a verbal testimony please feel free to ask Thomas for my number. Once everything is done I hope to come back and add some more photos.

Kevin did an excellent job! He painted my cabinets and replaced all the yucky brass hardware with nickel. They look gorgeous! He noticed the cabinet floor under the sink was falling and asked if he could fix it. That floor is so sturdy now it won't be moving for another 100 years. He also installed a threshold between my dining room and kitchen. The tile floor in the kitchen was higher than the hard woods. My company won't trip anymore. I'm so excited. Hire Kevin! He's honest and fair. We have other jobs lines up when the weather breaks 😃

Tom's team did an outstanding job at painting very high contemporary ceiling rooms. Patched ceiling cracks and smoothed out ceiling issues from previous non-TNS work. He did creative carpentry work to fix problems with a hall corner wall, hole in bath wall and deck board that had rot. Fixed kitchen cabinet drawer that did not work. Great communication and execution. Hard workers, that were very accommodating of my schedule and my dogs. Great experience

Dan was highly professional, and did excellent work. We hired him to install an entire kitchen cabinet set, as well as make some needed drywall repairs. We will be working with Dan on opening up a wall and adding a breakfast bar in the future.

My 6 year old fell backwards while reclining in our antique host dining chair. To our dismay, the chair broke in 4 pieces including a diagonal break across one leg. Michael schedule a prompt evaluation on a Saturday at our home which could not have been more convenient. Our conversations led me to think that he had a lot of experience working with wood and that he really enjoyed working on antiques, but could repair any wood furniture pieces. We schedule a full repair the following Saturday and I could not believe my eyes when he was through. Michael not only fixed the chair, but he reinforced the breaks with nails and pins so that it never happens again and left the chair so beautifully touched up so that it still looks like the antique that it is. i wish i could post before and after photos because one would ever know the chair was so damaged. Mike was not only prompt and highly skilled, but clean (I did not have to clean up after him), courteous and a great value for the work. While at my home, he even agreed to fix a cabinet for me that had lost its knob and also left me with a permanent fix. I could not recommend him more highly and plan to call upon him again if we need his help in the future.

My wife and i needed an experienced contractor to install our cabinet crown moulding and subway tile backsplash in our custom kitchen. We found Rafal here on Thumbtack. He came to our house (on time) and took measurements. Our honest first impressions of Rafal were that he was personable, respectful and professional. Right off the bat had a good feeling about him. Shortly after, Rafal provided us with a competitive quote. We decided to move forward with the work. We were pleased with Rafal's ability to stick to his timeline. The job started and was completed in a timely manner, actually it was the exact timeline Rafal originally quoted. The final product is absolutely superb. His attention to detail is most impressive. I am a very meticulous person and i cannot find one single flaw or problem area with Rafal's craftsmanship. I can genuinely say everything came out considerably better than expected. We have since referred family members and they are just as impressed with Rafal's workmanship. If you are currently in need of quality home renovations specializing in kitchens and bathrooms, i strongly suggest you consider Rafal Wlazlo - RR Architectural Woodwork & Design.

Anthony Pino totally remodeled my 3,000 Sq. ft. home, while keeping well within my budget. This included gutting my kitchen, 2 bathrooms and adding a 20' by 30' composite deck off my kitchen. In addition he finished in the time-frame that was promised. My kitchen now has beautiful cherry cabinets with a glass back splash and wood floors to compliment. My bathrooms are equally delightful both consisting of a mixture of marble and tile and soothing lighting. I am looking forward to my next project which will be my basement with a wine cellar. I highly recommend Mr. Pino and his team for their superior craftsmanship. Nancy S.

Very professional and personable with good insights and suggestions. Clearly has a TON of mill work and wood working experience, and is well priced! Will post photos of our beautiful new cabinets when installed!

We realized that Americoat Painting & Construction Services would be a different home repair company when the two workers from the company first entered our house – they took off their shoes, put on booties and placed tarpaulin from the front door up the steps to the work site on the second floor. This was the beginning of what would be a professional installation of a new shower stall and repair/painting of bathroom walls and ceiling. When they removed the old stall they found inferior flooring and a bird nest resulting from a previously unknown opening to the outside of the house. They also noted that the shower light was a shock possibility. They took these issues in stride and altered the project to account for these problems. They were friendly and neat and offered advice on the removal of wall tile prior to painting the walls and ceiling. They even recommended a paint color that matched bathroom fixtures and cabinets. As for price, Americoat installed the new shower and painted the bathroom for about half the price another construction company bid for the shower alone. When the job was over, we were so happy with their work that we had them seal and straighten a cellar wall that was bowed due to outside water leakage. And, as a final example of excellence, at the end of each day of the job they left our house as clean as it was when they entered.

Jeff installed my new kitchen cabinets and I love it ! Jeff does excellent work and is an expert in the business. The thing that I liked most about Jeff was that he was knowledgeable about my particular cabinets, and he let me know beforehand about any adjustments that needed to be made. This helped to keep an even pace and flow to the job. The job was completed in a timely fashion, and I couldn't be happier !

We had custom cabinets and shelving made for both our mudroom and family room. Everyone at D&S was pleasant to deal with, and they got the job done in a reasonable amount of time. We are so happy with the quality of our new cabinets and would definitely recommend them to anyone!

I have had "the best" experience with Kitchen Tune Up. My kitchen went from very old tired painted cabinets to a beautiful refacing with a very rich wood finish. A bright quartz countertop and pull out drawers gives me a brand new kitchen.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

        Do you tip cabinet installers?

In general, home service providers such as electricians, plumbers and contractors are professionals who don’t expect tips. They expect to do a job for you for the specific price they quoted. Of course, they may appreciate a tip for a job particularly well done or for which they’ve gone beyond what’s normally expected, such as completing the project early or under budget. Even better than a tip, it’s always appropriate to leave a positive review online after a good experience.

        How much is custom cabinetry?

Custom cabinets can be built for any room, including bedroom closets and built-in armoires. Measured carefully and built precisely, custom cabinetry can increase storage and beautify any room. The national average for building custom cabinets ranges from $500 to $1,200 per linear foot. The cost is highly variable because there are so many styles, colors, glazes and other options. In general, the linear footage of the cabinets, the materials used to build them, and the cost of the labor will determine the cost. Solid wood costs more than plywood and wood veneer, and costs vary among different types of wood; maple and cherry cabinets are more expensive than pine. Glass-front cabinets can cost more, as can decorative hinges, handles and door pulls, which can cost $2-$45 each; choose carefully to stay within your budget and pull off the exact look you’re going for. Some carpenters also charge for installation, on average $100 per cabinet box. Additional molding and trim, such as crown molding at the ceiling, cost an average of $70 per 8-foot section, and adding finished ends to exposed cabinets averages $100-$200.

How much does it cost to have kitchen cabinets installed?

In any kitchen, the cabinets are the main focus, so you want to make sure new or replacement cabinets are installed correctly. A professional carpenter can properly, securely mount new cabinets to the wall; the national average cost for this service is $7,725, although the cost varies widely depending on the type of cabinets, their material and their size, and the accessories you add. A typical fee is $70 per linear foot to remove existing cabinets and assemble and install new ones; the cost is less if you do the demolition and removal yourself. Stock cabinets are the least expensive to have installed, ranging from $75 to $400 each; semi-custom cabinets range from $150 to $900 each; and custom cabinets cost from $500 to $1,400 each. Wood cabinets are more expensive than those made from plywood or medium-density fiberboard (MDF) and finished with a laminate. Wood cabinets range in cost from $80 to $160 per linear foot. Laminate-finished cabinets cost $35 to $75 per linear foot, on average.
