I found Mike 's work to be right on point. He power washed and painted my 3 decks outback. He was very flexible with meeting me for payment. Returned my messages when I had questions. Was always on time. Had no problem when I wanted him to check an extra area. I would definitely recommend him for future work that other interested parties may need him for. I will be using his services for my mother in the future.

Mr. Ralph worked alone. Had to help him with getting items out of the basement. But for the price, it was well worth the extra effort. He was quick to respond and very friendly. Also, he worked on a Sunday for us. We would hire him again if need be.

I'd hire JB Weaver again in an instant. It's the best experience I've had in hiring someone for home projects. Had a ceiling installed, several plumbing projects completed, painting, flooring and a variety of other general services. Can't say enough about this company.

From quote to completion Ben was very upfront with all aspects of the job of replacing the roof on my garage, including pricing, scheduling, and honesty about what needed to be done (and what really didn't). His passion and enthusiasm for getting the job done right was apparent from the time I first met him. I will not hesitate to use his company again in the future and have already recommended him to a few friends. I almost hesitate to recommend him so highly for fear of him getting too busy when I need work done in the future!

We hired Damian to do some work on our house. He did an amazing job with all the electrical work. He put New out let's in and put a new electoral box in our basement. He also put up new cabinets and microwave up that we bought. He worked about 8-9 hours a day to get it done. It took him an extra day to get it done, he even pushed one of his jobs back to get it done. Damian give us a good estimate. We will be hiring him again to work on our house.

Jeff and his crew were courteous, neat, and pleasant to have in our home. Jeff responded on very short notice to my initial request for an estimate, and he was communicative and clear about the details of the work. The quality of their work was outstanding; they painted 2 interior rooms of my house as a surprise for my husband, and got it all done in one day to make the surprise possible. It looks fantastic. Something that really impressed me: part of what the job entailed was painting over an area of ceiling that had water stains from an AC leak a while back. They completed the job, and then he went out of his way to tell me that if the stain showed through again at all after it had dried, they would come back and give it another coat. I didn't even have to ask him to do that; he offered willingly and "preemptively", which I think speaks volumes to his professionalism. I would add that I did not know until Jeff sent me the estimate that this is a U.S. Veteran-owned business--and that is yet another reason (among many) that I would be very happy to recommend them to anyone.

Amazing work! Jeff did some painting for my downstairs and bathroom. He was able to fix a leak that was coming from the wall of the sink vanity. He also completed painting of my basement and kitchen and doing some trim work. He was very professional and responsive in taking initiative of what needed complete in the home and even was able to give suggestions on how to do the project. You'll be satisfied with his work! I have since hired him on to put up doors and do dry wall and other sink and light fixtures!

The ends of the facial boards covering the heavy beams supporting my carport roof were rotting due to water leakage. Rather than replacing the entire length of facial board, Jeff cut out the rotten pieces and replaced with new lumber. After sanding and painting, no visual evidence of repair. Super job Jeff!

We were very pleased planning the painting job with Michael. He explained all that was to be done. VERY professional. They don’t just paint. They examine all the walls and fix any imperfections before painting. You even qualify to have an interior decorator come to help you choose colors for free! His crew did a great job. So nice to let them do it all! 👍

Tyler did a great, professional job on our bathroom remodel. His attention to detail was excellent. Tyler kept us informed clearly and frequently. Excellent demeanor. We will be using him again to paint two rooms next week. He has been arguably the best contractor we have used for needed work at our home since we moved to Harrisburg four months ago.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
