FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our base rate is $35 per hour. If someone wants to come in occasionally and do an hour or two, then that is the rate for them. However, if they plan to work on projects that take multiple hours and pay for the first two hours prior to the start of the session, they are entitled to the student rate of $25 per hour for up to 30 days. If they wish to continue at the end of 30 days, they can pay for an additional 2 hours at $35 per hour and get the remaining hours for the next 30 day period at the student rate. For projects that will take most of the day and will run for several days or longer, we have negotiable day rates based on the amount of time needed.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Cubase is the cutting edge recording software used in our studio. The engineer belongs to Club Cubase, and is informed on every new innovation by the company, and is educated on them through video tutorials.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I had been an acoustic guitar singer/songwriter for many years. When I moved to New York City in 1971 I wanted to find a recording studio and make a record. I enjoyed the process so much that I wanted to learn to do it myself. I purchased a new piece of gear every time I had the money to do so, until I had a complete studio, which I used for several years just to record my own music. While attending Berklee, I began offering my services to other students and kept busy recording them. In 1980 I started a record label and publishing business.
