Heritage Landscaping did an awesome and beautiful job for us...we feel very blessed to have found them! We needed an extension of our current driveway to allow more space for our teenage drivers... Jeff was prompt and extremely professional and so helpful giving us a design that fit out needs. They got the job done quickly and efficiently...we love our new driveway addition and he was able to add additional landscaping to complete the job...we are very happy! I would definitely recommend them and hire them again! TIm & Dawn Lewis Coopersburg,Pa

Team Dash and Andy George were business clients of ours for over 10 years along with being a personal friend for much longer. He and his company have been taking care of our home in New Tripoli for almost a year while we have moved over 500 miles away to Central Maine. They have been the lifeline to keeping the house in top condition while it has been on the real estate market. They have handled the landscaping and lawn management along with plowing snow in addition to being in charge of managing the property in our absence. We trust Andy and his company completely to do an outstanding job, when he says it will be done and to charge fairly for his service. A#1

Although avid believers of “do-it-yourself” it was time for the experts to plan and install our outside backyard patio and front walkway. This review may be a little long winded, but we felt it was necessary to cover all the key particulars of our outdoor project to provide potential customers of Trevor Landscaping (TL) a concise perspective of all the fine services afforded by the organization. Prior to TL we surveyed three potential contractors for the project. Besides price, quality materials, experience, timing and clever design, an important aspect for both of us was contractor attitude. Attitude by Trevor and his staff played an important role in our final decision. Questions before the project started and those during the project were seriously acknowledged and appropriately responded to with constant positive feedback. This included Trevor, his office staff and in particular the incredible construction workers. Positive attitude and feedback were always conveyed. The layout of our property and our design objectives provided some extremely creative challenges. Extreme measures were taken by the construction staff to work within our confined construction areas assuring unnecessary damage to surrounding plants, trees, housing, driveway, water line and roof drainage. The staff worked around our pets’ accessibility to share the outside space while construction was underway. The design of the extended patio layout, pet area and walkway were artistically and cleverly incorporated into the surrounding landscape. Because of our hilly terrain, mobility and space for construction equipment was severely limited, but the staff made every effort to be respectful of areas that were not part of the central design. Their engineering skills for patio design were amazing. The accuracy of the interplay between the various sections of the design fit-in as perfect parts of a puzzle. Attention to detail was highly maintained. Cleanup and any required restoration of the property were managed perfectly. We have been using the area for several months now through the Fall and Winter (2017-18) and have not experienced any post construction concerns. This included three different rain water management issues that we had to address in the layout design. If any issue did arise during the construction process there was total communications between staff and management with always a definitive response. Getting back to our original comment about attitude, we would have to repeat once again how we were impressed with the construction staff and office staff throughout the entire construction period. The results of the final project is a proud comment of their work ethic, communications and skills. If you wish to discuss further our experience with Trevor Landscaping, please contact Trevor and he will provide you with our contact information. All the best with your landscape project! Last year I did some research into paving my driveway; these folks game me a quote and when I contacted this year, they still honored it. Great bunch of guys, they were in by 7:30AM and out before 10. Not a very buy driveway but they took the time to answer my questions and assured me through each step!! Loved working with them and they did a great job with a great pour on a driveway that looked horrible. They've already been recommended to two of my friends and I'm recommending them here as well!

I hired Scott Fackler to make my driveway concrete. I asked him to make the whole driveway as wide as the house so that people leaving my house can turn around in the driveway rather than backing out onto the road, He and his helpers did an outstanding job. It took him about one month to do the job, considering that he hasd to wait for the cement to ddry and that he had some other jobs to do at that time, too.

Brian had provided us service this past week. He is really professional and came right on time to clean our steep driveway. He has a bigger vehicle with snow plow so it was easy for him to clear our steep driveway. He also went ahead and spreaded salt. I would highly recommend him.

Bob built our backyard fireplace and concrete patio. We were really impressed with the out door brick fireplace that he scratch built from a photo we showed him. The fireplace is constructed from the same brick that matches our brick front on our home. The patio also looks great and he trimmed it with pavers that match our front side walks. We are also going to have Bob do our basement fireplace from a plan that Bob proposed using a combination of West Mountain Stone, cultured stone, field stone and Pennsylvania Blue Stone. Bob is very meticulous and attentive to detail as far as what the homeowner wants - still looks as great as the day he put it in. We have spent many nights on the patio in front of the fireplace enjoying time spent with our Children, Grandchildren and Friends.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you find a good concrete contractor?

Concrete contractors pave driveways, build foundations for homes, install retaining walls, create hardscaping for front and back yards, build concrete steps, and so much more. When searching for a driveway contractor, read reviews from previous customers and ask for referrals. Ask the contractor for photos of examples of their work that’s similar to what you want. Confirm they will get the proper permits so your driveway is up to code. Hiring a driveway contractor to install concrete can average $5-$6 per square foot, or more, depending on where you live, the slope and grade of the driveway site, and regional labor costs. For a new asphalt driveway, the cost could average from $3-5 per square foot. A standard concrete driveway of 500 square feet averaging $5-$6 per square foot would cost $2,500-$3,000 — so it pays to research someone who will do quality work. Excavation and grading work can increase your cost per square foot significantly. Ask whether the contractor provides a materials and labor warranty for their work. Some cracking of the concrete may occur as it settles, but you should talk with your contractor about any structural or aesthetic concerns you have. When hiring a concrete contractor, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to redo a concrete driveway?

Replacing or renovating a damaged or time-worn asphalt or concrete driveway can boost your curb appeal and add to your home value. If your concrete driveway is nearing 20 years or more, it may be wise to invest in an entirely new driveway, instead of redoing your current one. Asphalt driveways average 15-20 years of life, so if you start needing major repairs around the 15 year mark, weigh the pros and cons of repairing or replacing it. Request bids from two to three driveway contractors to determine pricing and project scope, and check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack. Here are some examples of average costs:

    • The national average cost to hire a concrete specialist is $2,750, but that price can vary greatly depending on the work needed to repair and resurface your concrete driveway, the square footage of the project, current costs of concrete, and regional labor rates.
    • Driveway contractors average $2-$3 per square foot to smooth and resurface your asphalt driveway.
    • Resurfacing concrete driveways averages $3-$10 per square foot. Pricing can depend on repairs needed, project size and geographic location.
    • Nationally, the average cost for resurfacing a 500-square-foot driveway ranges from $2,000 to $5,000.
    • Sealant for a concrete drive can cost $20-$80 per gallon.
    • Sealant for an asphalt drive averages 25 cents per square foot.

    What do paving contractors do?

Paving contractors can be hired to install a concrete or asphalt driveway at your home, office or property. They can also repave an asphalt or concrete driveway that has been damaged by time, weather or heavy loads. When you are looking for a driveway contractor, request quotes from at least three professionals who are in good standing and have great customer reviews. They should do a site visit and write you a bid, detailing the work involved, materials needed, approximate length of the project and estimated cost.

The site for your new driveway will determine costs and the work required for your contractor. First, the ground must be excavated to lay a clear path. This means removing any trees, bushes and stumps. Next, the driveway contractor will grade the area, making a level surface for the concrete or asphalt. To ensure proper drainage, driveway contractors should install a sub-base of compacted gravel (or similar) 4 inches-8 inches deep, depending on your soil type. Then the concrete or asphalt may be poured and smoothed over the top. Your driveway contractor should recommend an appropriate sealant for your climate and advise you on curing time.
