Had deck floor boards replaced and decks re-coated. Windows re-sealed and cracks in brick re-sealed. William was very easy to work, the job was done quickly, and any concerns were address. Would recommend.

Sherman was amazing to work with. He was willing to do a smaller job of prepping our cedar-sided house for paint, and installing soffit, facia and painting our gutters. Everyone else we contacted only wanted to work with us if we re-sided our entire house. He went above and beyond to do it to our specifications, helping us to save thousands of dollars compared to two large chains quotes. He suggested a few additions to the project at a really reasonable price (capping the windows and gutter guards), and we are thrilled with the results, which we think will really make the house pop when it's painted a more updated color. He showed up promptly every day, and thoroughly cleaned up at the end of each day. I'm very happy with his work and his price was a STEAL!

I worked with John on a few projects around my house which included installing closets, window treatments and household fixtures and appliance work. He was very punctual, helpful, knowledgeable and professional and overall a nice guy. I would definitely hire him again for projects around the house and home repair & maintenance needs.

Sorry, I thought my review was left long ago! I have to leave a comment because this was the BEST experience I've ever had with a contractor. I had my basement windows installed and it was A LOT of work. Now the basement windows are the best windows in my house! Not because of the windows I selected, but because of the professional and impeccable work performed. I will be calling again for this year's project. Thank you so much, and I'm sorry this review is coming so late.

Glenn and his team did a fantastic carpentry job on our home. His team replaced our outside bay window trimmings, painted and went above and beyond to produce a great finishing job. The team was on time, respectable, hard working and very efficient. Great value and great job! I would highly recommend. We will use them again!

They did a great job. They are very knowledgeable on windows- very professional installation. Mike and John put in a vinyl window for my steam room, along with two tempered glass accessory windows. They also adjusted several windows throughout the house and fixed a mechanism for opening a window that was not working correctly. They color matched the trim.

Mr Falcone handled all business personally. He explained everything that needed to be done and why. He kept all of his appointments and was available by phone at all times. The finished work exceeded my expectations. He repaired brick work as well as structural work. In addition he painted and recaulked windows. He handled all parts of the work that needed to be done. I did not have to call in anyone else to complete any part of the work that needed to be done. Mr Falcone made it clear he wanted to know if there were any problems afterward and that he would take care of anything that he had repaired that was not satisfactory.

DRA is a Class Act. We had them inspect several windows to determine what needed to be done. They replaced a few windows in a very timely manner, Not to mention they showed up on time and kept their work area very clean. I've had a lot of experience with Contractors as I am a Contractor myself and I can honestly say DRA did a fantastic job from start to finish. I'll only be using them for any window needs from this point on. Thanks guys.

We had our master bed & bath painted and our whole hallway into the downstairs family room. It looks great! There was a little bit of paint coverage at first (our new construction walls soaked it all up!) but Joe (owner) was right on it. He's a really stand up guy who truly cares about your happiness with the results. We also really appreciated his extreme availability throughout the process. Next week STP is scheduled to come back and put in a new window and there's no doubt that he'll see to it that it turns out beautiful. Thanks Joe! O, he also gave our little ones a big bag of gummie bears:)

They refused to give me a quote because my wife is not here for appointment. They never mentioned she would need to be here. My wife is not involved in the decision to purchase new windows and is not on the deed of the house. I'm in charge of making the window purchase decision and they wont let me do that.

So i had a total of 6 people come and quote me for this project. 4/6 were cheaper than Paul (not by much) but what made me choose Paul was his attention to detail. Most folks came over, looked at the project, left and sent me the quote later. Paul came over, took measurements, and made sure he was able to find siding that closely matches what I have BEFORE he gave me a quote. This way there were no surprises when it came time to do the project. When the siding and windows came in Paul and I believe his Father In Law came over and worked thoroughly making sure everything was done correct. When there were concerns I had (nothing major) he was quick to acknowledge and resolve them. He was very responsive the entire time and kept me in the loop with things as it were happening. I appreciate all the hard work and effort he put in removing my door and putting in the window and I look forward to working with him on further projects I have.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you replace a window?

You may want to replace a window if the glass has been damaged, you’re remodeling a room, or you want to upgrade your energy efficiency as well as your style by getting rid of those drafty single panes that are losing you money. When replacing a window, you can remove and replace the entire window down to the house frame. This method is best if the existing frame is damaged or deteriorating, but requires construction skills and know-how and will take more time and money. An easier and less expensive option is to install an insert replacement window into the existing frame. Insert replacements are only an option if your window frame is in good condition without rot or damage.

When replacing an entire window, first you’ll carefully remove the existing window with a pry bar and other tools. Next, you’ll make any repairs and adjustments needed to the existing frame or header and studs to ensure that the space is perfectly plumb and square, so the new window will sit perfectly within the space. Next, install the new window from the exterior, securing it into place. You’ll need to precisely wrap and insulate the window to ensure it doesn’t leak. Then, install the interior casing and exterior trim (as needed). If you prefer to hire a professional to install a window, consider replacing more than one window at a time, as the pro can work more efficiently.

How much is a custom window?

Choosing custom windows will increase your window installation cost but will provide you with exactly what you want. The average national cost for window installation is $2,650. Your custom window costs will vary based on several factors. The first factor is the type of frame you want. The four most common types of frames are vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum and wood. Wood is typically the most expensive option, followed by aluminum. The type of glass you select will also affect cost. There are single-, double- and triple-pane windows. Most double- and triple-pane windows have gas sealed between the panes that act as insulation. Windows typically cost more the more energy-efficient they are, though this efficiency can save you money on utility bills in the long run. The type of glass used can also affect cost. There are different grades of glass — high-performance glass, low-e coated glass, and more — which all provide you with better insulation. In addition, the number of unified inches (window height x window width) you need will affect cost. The cost of custom windows will also be affected by installation cost and whether any repair or construction work is required to properly fit the new window.

How much would it cost to put in new windows?

The cost to replace a window can vary depending on factors such as window size, type of glass, brand of window, necessary trim repair, and any construction work required for installation. Labor rates and cost to do business in your region will also affect the cost. The national average window installation cost is $2,650 per project. Here are some examples of average trim repair and window replacement costs:

  • Trim repair:
    • Line and case a window frame with an MDF product: $400.
    • Line and case a window frame with raw hemlock wood: $500.
  • Approximate cost to install five windows at one time: $3,000.
  • Approximate cost to install one double-hung, energy-efficient 3-foot by 4-foot window: $500-$550.
    • For the same window size (3-foot by 4-foot) from a different manufacturer made with a specialty fiberglass exterior and all-wood interior, the cost could go up to $1,500.
    • Pricing can go as high as $5,000 for a bay or bow window with specialty glass and framing.
      • These examples include removal and disposal of old materials and window.
