We had the BEST time learning how to cook with Allison! She arrived on time and got right to work teaching us how to prepare our meal. Allison was kind enough to sharpen my dull kitchen knives as well. We had a great conversation and sharing stories (Her's were awesome to listen to) as she taught us how to prepare our meal. It felt like we had all known each other for years :) I could probably write all afternoon about the valuable insights into cooking that Allison shared with us. At the end of it all, we enjoyed the most amazing meal I think I have ever had. Thank you so much, Allison! We will definitely have you back again to teach us much more!

Again, Catherine Brown conducted an exceptional cooking, and healthy eating class. Having participants to actually prepare the dish reinforced the importance and meaning of cooking foods in a more healthy way. I am definitely going to try all of the recipes that we had and make an even greater attempt to eat healthier. Thanks Ms Brown for a rewarding experience.

I have hired Dineomatic a couple of times, both to teach cooking classes for my business (which were fabulous and fun!) as well as to cater my company's holiday party. Matt has a contagious love for food and flavors, and his cooking shows that. He willingly took on a South American themed menu for our party, and produced delicious, colorful dishes that my guests loved. He paired the food with festive signature cocktails that created a buzz as my guests arrived for the evening. So cool. If you are looking for a caterer to help you create a memorable event with great food and drink, hire Matt!

Christina was a great cooking instructor. We gave her our dietary restrictions & requirements and she developed the menu. We enjoyed learning new techniques and the food was excellent. The ginger carrot soup was the biggest hit and enjoyed again last night. Thanks Christina!!

I have worked in Institutional Food Service as a director of food services for 25 years. I have planned events for 8 to 500! Having recently retired, I want to share my knowledge and love of food. My favorite times during my work career were instructing employees and hosting cooking classes from preparing the basics to gourmet and specialty foods. I start with teaching the correct equipment you'll need and how to use it. Come, have a good time and learn from a seasoned professional!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.
