However, I still had difficulty expressing myself at the level of a native American speaker, especially when it came to my accent. This idea made me feel safe, secure, and confident during the entire program. Because of this approach, I did not only improve my accent — I also transformed the way I see myself as a speaker of English. More importantly, I feel that the language truly belongs to me, and I feel comfortable expressing myself in American culture while still keeping my Spanish identity.
