After an hour of researching exterminators in my area, I decided to go with Sleep Tight Pest Control and I couldn't be any happier. Brent was pleasant, professional, and extremely knowledgeable when it came to bedbug infestations. He set my mind at ease just from our initial conversation over the phone. I called his company, spoke to him directly, and set up an appointment the very next day. He was prompt and ready to work when he arrived at my home. He took his time and was willing to answer any and all questions I had. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone that is in this unfortunate situation. The 90 day guarantee is also an added bonus to the treatment package. So far I have not seen any bugs, which makes me very satisfied. Keep up the good work Brent, you'll go far!!!

Falcon was excellent. The exterminator was able to come to my house with very short notice and was very thorough and professional. We had a mice problem for months that a different exterminator couldn’t solve, but Falcon was able to get rid of the mice after only one visit! Not to mention he explained what he was doing and the precautions he was taking to prevent mice from returning in the future. I would highly recommend Falcon and will definitely be a repeat customer in the future if I run into pest problems again!

my 4 and 5 yr old little girls swear super hero Carlos is the very bestest! and I agree, he was punctual, professional, very understanding and reassuring. He hugged my little and promised to take the big bad bugs away so she and her sister could be safe. Carlos went above and beyond what I expected to experience from an exterminator. Carlos was even willing to work with me on payments for the cost of the service bill which was a big help. He was more a friend coming for a visit than a pro coming to solve a problem, respectful, courteous, helpful and friendly. I will not hesitate to call him if ever we need pest control again, He is awesome!!

Unfortunately, I suffered a mild flea problem. I was utterly frustrated with my problem especially knowing my pets we're suffering as well. I knew I would not be able to fight my flea problem without a professional. I ended up posting an assignment on Thumbstack. Instantly, I received a response from GreenPest Solutions. I was very pleased with the professionalism of customer service (I spoke directly to Jordan) he was very understanding and helpful. I then spoke to Wes to schedule. I had an initial appointment scheduled (3) days out. I explained to Wes I couldn't wait another night with my current situation. He immediately called me back an hour later to let me know he could send someone the same day!! I was so happy. Lastly, Jerome was my exterminator. He explained the process and made everything easy for me. I would highly recommend GreenPest Solutions. They are very afforable, professional and do a great job. I am confident my little pest are now gone!

I had a serious problem with Ants. I tried everything I could to get rid of them. All County Termite came, talked to me about the problem and what my options were. They were very through in explaining the products that were needed to be used. After just one treatment my ant problem was resolved. All County did great follow up to make sure the ant problem continued to be resolved. I was very pleased with my experience with All County.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you get bed bugs and how do you get rid of them?

The increase in bed bug infestations in the U.S. is a result of increased travel, lack of knowledge about preventing infestations, increased resistance of bed bugs to pesticides, and ineffective pest control practices, explains the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It’s easy to mistake bed bugs for carpet beetles or similar-looking bugs, so infestations are often not noticed when they first occur. Prevention tips include keeping areas free of clutter, regularly washing sheets and mattress covers in hot water (and don’t forget to wash the laundry bag, too), and vacuuming regularly and safely disposing of the sealed vacuum bag. Not everyone has reactions to bed bug bites, which also may be mistaken for the bites of other pests such as mosquitoes, so timely bed bug extermination depends on identification of bed bug activity. If you notice physical signs of an infestation, contact a bed bug extermination professional as soon as possible to learn about chemical and non-chemical (such as heat) treatment options. An integrated pest management plan may incorporate one or more methods.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How do you get rid of termites?

The best way to get rid of termites is to act fast. Termites are a problem that will only get worse — and no matter how much you want them to, they usually don’t magically move out on their own. There are three main types of termites: drywood, dampwood and subterranean. Drywood and dampwood termites sneak through cracks in your exterior paint, nail holes, and gaps near windows and other openings and begin to eat through your wood. Subterranean termites enter your house from the ground up by creating mud tunnels. In all cases, they survive by eating the wood of your house. The type of termites you have can steer the treatment plan.

Methods of termite extermination include fumigation, use of pesticides, and use of natural elements that are poisonous to the bugs. The extent of your termite infestation will help determine the treatment method. If you have drywood or dampwood termites that have infiltrated all aspects of the wood in your home, the pest control pro may recommend enclosing the whole house in a tent and gassing the termites via fumigation. If you have subterranean termites, often the entire footprint of the home must be treated by drilling liquid treatments into the slab or foundation of the home to exterminate the colonies. In any case, once you see signs of termites, it’s time to take action and call a pest pro.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

    • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
      • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
    • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.

How much does it cost to kill bed bugs?

The cost of bed bug extermination depends primarily on how widespread the pest infestation is and how many rooms need to be treated. Other factors that can affect bed bug extermination costs are the amount of clutter in the location, additional furniture that needs to be treated, and construction of the home. Pest management professionals often have rates for room treatments, which can vary based on these factors. As an example, a pest management company treating a 10-by-15-foot room with light infestation might charge clients about $250, while the same size room with a heavy infestation and large amounts of clutter might cost the clients $300-$400. Clutter and heavier bed bug populations mean more product and longer labor time for the workers. Rates will vary from company to company, and from region to region, but the national average bed bug extermination cost is $320-$400. Bed bug heat treatments are an alternative way to exterminate these pests. Heat treatments are typically charged per square foot and tend to cost more than chemical or non-chemical spray solutions. Although effective, they are not usually recommended for occupied spaces, as the extreme temperatures can damage televisions, window dressings and other home furnishings.
