This review was a long time coming (mostly because i wanted to forget about the whole ordeal). I don't know where we got bed bugs from but, we had bed bugs. It was the worse experience of my life but Brent from Sleep Tight Pest Control Solutions came in, assured me that they were going to take care of my issue and they definitely did. Even though I still dream that they are crawling on me I no longer see them and i have been bed bug free for 8 months and counting.

Overall this has been a good experience and legionnaire did their best to accommodate our bed bug issue. There were some times that they were late to arrive, and I think they could have searched the location more thoroughly at first, but they did ultimately find the infestation and followed through with their services - which worked! They definitely followed up when I would call in, and were sensitive to the trauma that bed bugs come with, and they were a friendly team of people. For the price point it was effective and went smoothly overall. I would for sure call them in for a service again if I had to.

After really poor experiences with large national companies (Orkin and Terminix), working with the Amenta company was great. They came to do the job the next day, and the problem is solved. Will use again!

I contacted Harpoon Pest solutions base off of their reviews and the free inspection. My technician was Quincy J. Mr. Quincy came out and inspected my home for bed bugs. It was discovered that I did have bed bugs in my home. This has been a stressful experience for my family but Quincy has made it a lot easier to bear. His customer service is outstanding he has always been available for all my questions and concerns. I just received my first treatment and the day after I had some concerns, Quincy immediately came back out to my home to inspect. So far I am extremely impressed with my pest control services. If you want empathy, knowledge and great customer service chose Harpoon pest solutions.

So far, I'm very satisfied with the service I recieved from Green Pest Solutions. I had them over to treat my apartment for bed bugs and they were very informative, always able to answer my questions about how to prepare and what to expect. After the first treatment, I found maybe one or two bugs still living, and after the follow up treatment I haven't seen a single bug yet. It may be a little too early to say I'm totally rid of these horrible things, but even if I'm not, Green Pest Guarantees their treatment up to 60 days afterwards, so they'll come back free of charge if I see anything that needs to be killed. Over all, compared to the price of competing services, Green Pest is a fantastic deal and I would recommend them.

I have never worked with ANY company with this level of customer service! They are just doing their job, but they do it with such EXCELLENCE, and grace, that to them; it's "no big deal!" Well... I'd like to say; that it IS a big deal. This company has succeeded my expectations above and beyond what I could have even imagined. I would recommend them to anybody looking for a bed- bug removal service. We do travel AAU sports and stay in hotels often, so whenever we hear conversation of bed bugs we refer them to East Coast Heat Guys. If we ever bring bed bugs back home again from our travels, we will be coming back to them ! I can't thank them enough for how comfortable and taken care of they made us feel throughout this entire process! Bed bug free for months now. Hopefully never again!  Thank you, thank you, thank you!  A million thumbs up!

I highly recommend Simon McIvor and Beyond Bed Bug Control. Simon uses a completely "green" method. The spray and powder he uses are botanical, and completely safe to use around your family and pets. The spray is only for the areas that will not go into his "tent", and the powder is only used inside the wall outlets. The really amazing part of Simon's treatment is The Tent. I have a relatively small living room but Simon was able to set it up and fit the following inside : my 6 foot long high back couch, my Papasan chair, a basket full of blankets, a huge pile of throw pillows, all the clothes from 2 closets and whatever else we could find room for. Then he fired it up and the temperature inside the tent slowly climbed to 120 degrees over the next few hours. Meanwhile, Simon treated our beds. This included quality Bed Bug Mattress Covers with locking zippers. He did his spraying and powdering, and when the right temperature had been maintained inside the tent for the right amount of time, everything was put back and Simon vacuumed my house! He has a special vacuum cleaner he uses to make sure he gets up all the dead bugs and eggs. He also put climb ups under all the beds, and pest strips inside the bags of things we had which could not be washed. We had 14 large trash bags full. Those were to stay sealed up for a week. Simon came back in 2 weeks and reinspected everything, and he will be back in 2 more weeks to check again. So far we have not seen any signs of bugs. As for Simon himself, he's a great guy to have around the house for the day. He does all the work himself and he's prompt and reliable. He is professional and personable. Given the unpleasant circumstances, Simon was able to do his job and keep it light. I feel as though I have a new friend who has a "very particular set of skills", and I can count on him if I ever have this problem again.

I started to notice bites when I woke up every morning. I was recommended to prohome by a friend. Anthony, the owner came out, inspected and found out I had bed bugs! I was totally freaked out. He calmed me down, walked me through the process and came back and did the job. I couldn't be happier.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How do you get bed bugs and how do you get rid of them?

The increase in bed bug infestations in the U.S. is a result of increased travel, lack of knowledge about preventing infestations, increased resistance of bed bugs to pesticides, and ineffective pest control practices, explains the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It’s easy to mistake bed bugs for carpet beetles or similar-looking bugs, so infestations are often not noticed when they first occur. Prevention tips include keeping areas free of clutter, regularly washing sheets and mattress covers in hot water (and don’t forget to wash the laundry bag, too), and vacuuming regularly and safely disposing of the sealed vacuum bag. Not everyone has reactions to bed bug bites, which also may be mistaken for the bites of other pests such as mosquitoes, so timely bed bug extermination depends on identification of bed bug activity. If you notice physical signs of an infestation, contact a bed bug extermination professional as soon as possible to learn about chemical and non-chemical (such as heat) treatment options. An integrated pest management plan may incorporate one or more methods.

How much does it cost to treat a house for termites?

Termites are not only creepy-crawly, they can literally eat your house out from underneath you. Termites feed on damp and dry wood and can chomp through your house at an alarming rate. The national average pest control cost for termite extermination is $240-$400. Treatment costs can be higher for an extensive infestation. Here are some examples of average pest control costs for termites:

    • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: $3-$4 per linear foot.
      • For $75 per year, a company may offer a maintenance plan that provides inspection of the property and renewal of the warranty.
    • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: approximately $400 for a 2,000-square-foot home at $3-$5 per linear foot.
      • The price is higher for additional work such as foaming and drilling inside of concrete slabs.
    • Fumigation treatment of drywood termites: $1,200-$1,500 for a 30,000- to 35,000-cubic-foot home
      • Fumigation is measured in cubic feet because it fills the airspace of the home and infiltrates the wood that the termites may be colonizing. The cost of fumigation is affected by the number of levels in the home as well as the square footage.

How much does it cost to get rid of cockroaches?

Cockroaches are not only ugly, they are difficult to get rid of. Quick and resilient, they can be hard to get rid of without professional help once they have inhabited a house. Nationally, the average range for cockroach pest control cost is $80-$130. Extermination professionals typically provide a free estimate to determine the extent of the infestation. They’ll check for the main sources of the bugs, identify bug access and entry points into your home, and determine the best method for elimination. There are a variety of cockroach extermination tools including gel baits and traps, pesticide foggers, desiccants (which dry out the cockroaches), neurotoxins, and other pesticides. Pest control costs can also cover preventive measures like regular spraying and trap maintenance. Some regions of the country are much more prone to cockroach problems than others, so pest control costs may need to be part of your quarterly budget. Cockroaches love dark, humid, and warm areas and water sources, so place traps near your washer and dryer and under your sinks.

How do you check for bed bugs?

If you are concerned you have a bed bug infestation, look for physical signs of their presence. Bed bugs love to hide in small, dark spaces and typically come out to feed (generally on human blood) after dark — although they will come out in daylight if hungry enough. The Environmental Protection Agency states that indications of an infestation can include seeing shed exoskeletons of bed bugs, rusty spots on your bedding (which are either bug droppings or bloodstains), live bed bugs, bed bug egg casings, a sweet and musty odor (if the infestation is severe), and evidence of bites on your skin.

To spot bed bugs, look in and along mattress seams and bedding, in curtain and furniture folds, inside cracks or crevices in the walls, behind picture frames and mirrors, under loose wallpaper seams, on recently used luggage or backpacks, inside electronics, and inside clothing or cluttered areas such as closets. If you see signs of bed bugs, be careful not to disturb them too much as you don’t want them scattering to other parts of your house.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
