Most often it seems that in music teaching there is a standardized streamlined curriculum, that although useful and logical in certain ways, tends to leave a lot of musical gaps in what it covers, and is also not nearly as engaging for a student as it could be. I believe I stand out through my experience with formal training combined with many other types of gigging scenarios, and the ways that I can bring what I've learned through all those experiences into my teaching. I also feel I have much more flexibility in what and how I teach to be geared toward each individual and what he/she is striving for.
