I used On-Demand Moving Services for my most recent move in Philadelphia this past week, and I would encourage you to use any other company than On-Demand for your moving services. I used Thumbtack to obtain quotes from several different moving companies and On-Demand gave me the most competitive quote, so I decided to use them this time, but after this experience, I will never again use this company or any company suggested by Thumbtack. We are two single women, so we had a moderate amount of things - 2 bedrooms, a couch, a few bookcases and a dining room table as well as several boxes. They had 3 movers come out and they moved incredibly slow. It took them 5.67 hours to complete the move (I moved 0.5 miles down the road). The quote that the manager gave me was inherently deceptive. The estimate included 3.75 hours of labor (at $105/hr) and several other fees (# of flights of steps at each location, mileage, mattress cover, etc.) and it came out to around $500. Lanre, the manager, had e-mailed me that he thought it would take 3.75-5.75 hours for the move, so I was prepared to pay more than the estimate when it took them 5.67 hours to move me. At the end of the job, the mover quotes me $950 for the total. I knew instinctively that this must be wrong because I added about 2 more hours of labor at $105/hr to my $500 quote and thought he would charge me around $700. I called the manager to discuss, and he said that the quote he gave me included a “one-time charge of 1 hr travel for the move itself”. I still did not really understand what he was talking about, but basically, he sent me an estimate that said it was for 3.75 hours of labor, but it was actually what it would cost for 2.75 hours of labor with an additional flat fee hour travel charge of $105 for the move itself. I asked him why he would send me a deceptively low quote for an hour less than what he thought it would take to move all my things and he just replied, “It is only an estimate because we do not know how long it will actually take.” We went back and forth for a while, and then he suddenly found an “error” in his calculations, and then quoted me $810 for the move. At this point, I was so disgusted with this company and wanted their movers out of my home. I paid the $810, but I would say, please do not use this company. They damaged my wall (I moved into new construction) during the move, moved at an incredibly slow pace and then used deceptively low estimates with hidden fees that resulted in me paying way more than previously agreed.

We hired Bob's service to install a dining table which was sitting around for a long time. He had a great understanding of the client's need, one thing he mentioned was that the instructions which came in with the product were completely wrong. He has great application skills and was able to complete the job in quick time. He is very courteous, understanding and knowledgeable in the areas of home design and project work. I would be calling him again to get ceiling fans installed and also dimmer light switches installed.

Martin assembled a Foosball table for me. He arrived right on time, put the table together perfectly and even helped me hide it away for Christmas. Martin was very friendly, professional, neat and did great work. I would hire him again.

A friend recommended Forward Moving to me after she had a good experience, so I took her word and gave them a call. I could tell they had years of experience just by the way they examined everything in the house and created a plan that they worked throughout the day. The move was over a lot quicker than I expected it to be, and they even tightened up a few loose legs on my end tables and coffee table!

I was looking for a furniture assemblers to have Sauder Beginnings wardrobe cabinet and a dresser set up. After getting a few price quotes and doing some research about each company, I decided to go with John's Builders. I made an appointment with Rose for a Saturday and we agreed on the price. John arrived within specified time frame and he came prepared - he brought his tools and even a folding table, where he was setting up the assembled parts. Within two hours both pieces were assembled and looked like the Sauder.com pictures. John was very competent and thorough. I was very happy I chose his company and would hire him again for any future furniture assembly projects. Thank you, John!

Mark was fantastic!! Great communication assembled my new oversized dining room table, chairs and bench from Overstock that I just didn't want to deal with. First meeting and I felt so comfortable with his professional and friendly work and previous contact to set up the job that I left him to finish up on his own while I went to work. Mark cleaned up all the shipping boxes which I hadn't expected and texted me to let me know one of the chairs had a issue which was a manufacture issue. Overstock replaced that chair quickly. I will use Mark for any work I need done and refer him. Also his charge was very reasonable. HIRE him!!!

Benjamin Bain of Cedars and Oaks Renovations was just awesome and if I could rate him with more than 5 stars I certainly would. My project was desk assembly and hanging pictures and drapes. If I would have attempted the desk assembly myself I would have cried when I opened the box; it contained 26 pieces plus 149 cams, bolts, screws, drawer brackets and drawer hinges (not to mention there were 27 steps from opening the box to completed desk). Mr. Bain opened the box, scanned the instructions and made the entire project look like child's play (and there were no left over cams, screws, or bolts). The drapes were hung perfectly and the pictures squared precisely. Mr. Bain was very responsive to my calls and very prompt. He got hung-up in Friday morning traffic but called me to let me know the situation and that he would be a few minutes late which was no big deal but I certainly appreciated the fact that he called to let me know; that was very considerate of him. The quality of his work was superb and there was no leftover mess to clean up. He was very pleasant and professional and the value I received for wait I paid was terrific. He is also a very honest man - let me explain. When I paid him, two of the bills were stuck together unrecognized by me at the time. When I was at dinner that evening Mr. Bain called me and told me so and asked how he could return the "extra" money. I was so impressed by his honesty that I told him to keep the "extra" because I thought he deserved it. I would definitely recommend Mr. Bain and I would certainly hire him again; in fact I have so much faith in his ability, honesty, and integrity that I would give him the keys to the house and go about my business while he worked and not be a bit concerned about it. Trust me, you won't go wrong if you hire this man.
