Kim and her team did a great job with our move-in cleaning. We requested additional services including wall washing and carpet cleaning and they were able to take care of everything. We're very satisfied with the cleaning and will use this company again.

Anthony is a hard working, conscientious, well mannered gentleman who goes out of his way to make sure you're happy with his services. Honestly, this was our 1st endeavor using Thumbtack & my husband was concerned about a "no-name" company doing our carpets. He is also VERY skeptical about online reviews. Steamers Carpet Cleaners pricing was EXCELLENT for the service he provided. The one thing that really made us try SCC was that it was a "Veteran Owned" company. What could it hurt...? Well, he was very respectful of our home & our furniture. He was quick, thorough & paid extra attention to the traffic areas. My husband is a heavy smoker & I have 2 yappy little dogs (who made a friend for life with Anthony, LOL.) Frankly, our carpets look & smell great! Give SCC a shot. You will be pleasantly surprised! We WILL be using their services again! GO VETS!!!

I had all of my carpets cleaned. They turned out better than I expected. I explained what needed done and the stains that needed attention. I was charged exactly what I was quoted. Sometimes people come and up charge or can do this or that at an additional cost. There were no surprises which is always a plus. The cleaners were very professional and friendly. I would definitely recommend. I will people using them for all my carpet cleaning in the future.

Theyou did a great job with the carpet cleaning. It was a small bedroom, small livingroom and about 50-some steps plus landings. My only complaint is the waiting window and that there seems to be a bit of a fallout with their internal communication.

Mike and Jim did a wonderful job on the carpets in my new home! I received quick responses and they were flexible with scheduling. They arrived on time an walked through the 3 bedroom ranch to determine areas that needed special attention. There were many unknown stains and they took extra time to determine the type, treat and remove all stains that could be taken out. The job took about two hours (same time that I was given as an estimate) and the price was well worth the job that they did. I would definitely recommend Excellent Services to anyone looking for professional carpet cleaners.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who cleans area rugs?

Like your carpets, area rugs should ideally be cleaned at least once a year to remove dust and dirt and help them last longer. In general, carpet cleaning professionals also clean area rugs. Some rug cleaners bring their cleaning equipment to your home, while others remove your area rugs and clean them at their facilities. Either way, the rug should be cleaned with the solution most appropriate to its specific fabric and construction. It should also be completely dry before you return it to the floor.

How often should carpets be steam cleaned?

Dirty carpets can be unhealthy for the people living in the home, particularly those who have allergies, so it’s important to have them cleaned regularly; simply vacuuming once or twice a week isn’t enough. Carpet cleaning should be done by a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year to remove grime and help extend the life of your carpet. Most carpet manufacturers recommend professional steam cleaning, which penetrates deep into the carpet fibers and lifts out both dirt and the pollutants that get tracked inside. Steam cleaning also removes most of the moisture, so carpets dry quickly enough for homeowners to resume using them the same day. Between professional carpet cleanings, your carpet may need an emergency spot cleaning. Pet accidents, food or drink spills, and more can often be effectively cleaned with some water and a drop of white vinegar, although many cleaners will also make house calls for smaller spills and hard-to-clean spots like wine or grease stains.

How much does it cost to clean a rug?

Area rugs are typically found in high-traffic areas of the home, like hallways and entryways, so they collect more dirt and stains than simple vacuuming can handle. Similar to carpet cleaning, professionals can come to your home to deep-clean your area rugs. The national average cost for rug cleaning ranges from $80 to $120, but may be higher or lower depending on the rug’s size and fiber type. Rug cleaners generally charge by the square foot; for example, a standard 8-foot by 10-foot rug costs an average of $100 to clean. Natural fiber rugs, such as wool or silk, are usually more expensive to have cleaned than synthetic rugs. A carpeting cleaning company may charge on average $1.50 per square foot to clean a synthetic rug, $2 per square foot for a wool rug, and $3 per square foot for a silk rug. Some delicate rugs need to be washed by hand, which increases the price. Carpet cleaning companies often offer additional services, such as removing odors or applying moth deterrent, which can add 20 cents to 25 cents per square foot.

How much does it cost to clean a carpet?

Carpet cleaning costs vary depending on the type of cleaning, such as steam cleaning, and whether there are any stains that require special treatment. The main cost factors are the square footage of the carpet and the material it’s made from. The national average carpet cleaning price ranges from $100 to $130 for a typical suburban home, but steam cleaning prices start at an average of $120. In general, professional carpet cleaning ranges from an average of 20 cents to 50 cents per square foot, depending on where you live. Many companies have a minimum fee or room requirement — such as two rooms for an average of $40 each — and will charge more to clean carpeted stairs or a second floor. Finally, the carpet fiber type, density and pile will also affect the cost of cleaning; man-made fibers are stain-resistant and easier to clean, while wool carpeting is sensitive to water and requires more care.

What does carpet cleaning cost?

National average carpet cleaning prices range between $100 and $130. Carpet cleaning prices depend on how many square feet of carpet you want cleaned, how many rooms in one house or building will be cleaned, how stained your carpet is, how much the carpet cleaning company charges, your ZIP code, and the type of carpet you have. Cost per square foot can range from 20 cents to $1 or more, based on the above variables. Synthetic carpets are typically the least expensive to clean; natural fibers like wool cost more, as they require more care and attention, as well as more drying time. Excessive stains, challenging locations such as stairs, and accessibility also factor into your carpet cleaning price. Companies may charge a minimum service fee for cleaning a small carpet to cover their business expenses (paying employees, transporting the special equipment to your home). If your pet has repeatedly saturated the carpet with urine or if the fibers are extremely matted down, it may make more sense to completely replace your carpet than to continue to have it cleaned.
