I took piano lessons as a kid and vocal lessons through middle school and high school in a small rural town two hours from Pittsburgh. After a year of feeling a little lonely in a new city by myself I decided I wanted to take a piano and singing lesson once a week just for something to do and to keep myself "in singing shape". I found thumbtack, answered all the questions, and waited for emails from music teachers to come through. The next day I had multiple responses but Rossi Music Studio was the first I opened up and I called immediately after reading it. Even though I was very excited, I never saw myself driving a little over an hour three days a week to work with Joe a few hours a day. I never thought I could find so much amazing talent in one place, even the 7 and 8 year olds have incredible singing voices. Rossi Music Studio's curriculum is so cutting-edge that I can't believe how much I've grown in the short period of time in range, vocal agility, and tone. After a month I don't even recognize my voice and I am realizing what an awesome future I have to look forward to. Pittsburgh is very lucky to have Smokin' Joe and his amazing talent. He genuinely wants the best for each student and puts all of his heart into each lesson. He brings out THE BEST and more in each of his students.

I'm an aspiring singer and I want to accompany myself on piano. I had lessons when I was in grade school but only learned how to read. Those things didn't translate to the real world but I found Dan's ad and my life changed. I know what to do now. I can play chords, walk a bass line and I'm learning how to improvise. My mom is really amazed by the transformation. If you really want to learn how to play piano, you can't go wrong with Dan.

The Melody Shop is a wonderful place. I can't say enough about how well the teachers and staff continually engage their students and the all around atmosphere that promotes the love of music. I have personally seen all levels of abilities perform at their peak with the guidance of Neil Carr. My daughter not only learned how the read music, but she performed at a recital, which she would have never done before she began her lessons with Neil Carr.

I teach music lessons to all ages. I am graduating with my music education degree in May. I study woodwinds, brass, and some percussion. I am proficient in clarinet, alto saxophone, and baritone.

I've studied and spoken German for over 20 years, including a year in Berlin; ten summers of teaching, and leading activities at Concordia Language Villages summer German program. Over those ten summers, I developed a deep "bag of tricks" for teaching, and practicing various aspects of the German language. Mastering a language is hard work, but it can also be great fun! As someone who developed a high level of fluency as an adult learner, my particular strength is helping students work toward: * more consistent and accurate pronunciation * a systematic understanding and mastery of various aspects of German language structures and patterns (a.k.a. grammar), though that word makes it sound boring). I'm a patient coach, and I tailor pacing and content to each student's needs, interests, learning styles, and abilities. Ultimately, German will teach you German, if you can expose yourself to enough of it! As an adult learner, if you can internalize and master the underlying patterns of how German works, then all the real Germans you encounter will reinforce and solidify that knowledge. As opposed to reinforcing the annoying sense, that this language is a mystery! I'm also a working musician, a songwriter, a guitar or sax player, and give private acoustic guitar finger picking self-accompaniment, songwriting, sax, and improvisation lessons.
