I am not keen on exercise, but I know how importnat it is, so I look for activities I can truly enjoy so that I'll stick with it. After a demo class on Middle East dancing (belly dancing to most of us), I decided this was for me!
Mary made the classes a lot of fun. There was no pressure on those of us who were not the most coordinated or graceful dancers. Everyone was supportive and encouraged others when they did something well. We all got the colorful scarves with metal dangles and felt totally ready for the sultan's harem!
The music was exotic and came from many countries, and that was a nice bonus I had not really considered.
Best of all, this was great exercise. I was expecting to exercise the tummy muscles, and it did not surprise me that my legs also got workout, but I did not expect to feel the exercise in my arms. It is a full-body workout.
I have a broken ankle right now and am not doing ANY exercise, but I miss my dance class and am eager to get back. I can't remember ever feeling that way about an exercise class!
