I was very pleased with the grooming service provided by Cathy. She consistently responded to me leading up to the service within 5-10 minutes. She arrived 15 minutes prior to the designated start time to give herself time to set up and prepare. She took her time with my dog, Maizee, who's only 4 months old and was very patient with her during her very first grooming! The best part was that my pup didn't even have to leave the comfort of her own home which eliminated any stress or anxiety about getting groomed! Also - I was able to get things done around the house! It really was a win-win! I would not hesitate to hire Cathy again. A great value for the services that are provided in the convenience of your own home! Thanks, Cathy!

I am giving 5 stars because she did a very amazing job with my dog, she was rescued and needed to get GROOMED ASAP! She was really matted, she had about 4 inches of thick fur coat. Cathy had the patience and did a lovely job. I definitely will keep using her for my dogs grooming. She dematted my dog and now she’s running around happy. Thank You! I appreciate the fact you came in less than a 24hr notice. Reasonable price as well.

Peter was a great trainer. He arrived early in the morning and we immediately set out to train my three month old puppy. He uses a lot of positive re-enforcement methods and showed us how to begin training a puppy. He gave us the basics and demonstrated how to use them. He's very patient and knows how to get into the mind of dogs! He also gave us a lot of tips on how to potty train, discipline, reward and followed up with me the next day. We have already seen results in many areas. I would highly recommend Peter to help you with training your dog or puppy

Peter provided exactly the service that he described to me when he messaged me with a quote. He gives you the tools needed to train your dog. Its up to the owner to follow through but if you follow Peter's training you and your dog will be well on your way.

My experience with Sandy and the Pawsitive Experience was outstanding. The first thing I liked and appreciated was Sandy’s approach to assessing my situation. After getting acquainted with our dog and what I had hoped to accomplish with the dog training lessons, Sandy tailored a program to our needs and didn’t try to heap unnecessary add-ons to my program. Once the lessons began, the thing that stood out was Sandy’s attention, not only to our dog, but also to my family (and children, in particular). Sandy took the time during each lesson to integrate my young children into the lessons so that they could get comfortable around our dog and understand that the dog was young and needed time to grow up just as they do. My best endorsement of Sandy is to say that because of her help, we absolutely love having a dog as part of our family and our dog loves being part of our family. If you want a friendly, knowledgeable and professional dog trainer, give Sandy a call.

Ok, I am telling you guys that Sandy Nelson is the Mary Poppins of dog training. I can not believe how easy she made it to learn how to get Ruby, my Saint Bernard, to actually listen (Ruby will now sit for treats). Today was the first lesson for my new girl "Babs". Babs is a Bassett Hound and like all hounds she is pretty dopey. Her first lesson went fantastic. With Sandy's help I am going to have two well behaved pooches. I can NOT say enough good things about The Pawsitive Experience. I am so grateful to have found Sandy on here.

My first experience with a private trainer for my pooch and I couldn't have asked for a better person. Sandy is professional yet down to earth, my dog, kokobutt, who is afraid of the world, loves her! "Aunty Sandy" is amazing at training and my dog has come a long way. I will continue to use her services and recommend her to anyone seeking assistance to train their dogs.

I hired Courtney and Alphonse to help me and my rescue dogs with obedience, leash manners, and building respectful relationships. One of them suffers from abandonment, too much confidence, and minor physical abuse. While the other had extensive physical abuse (from dogs and humans), neglect, and starvation, with no prior training. Not only have they helped with ALL of those things, but they have become a part of our little family. They solve every issue that comes up, respond to every text from a hyper sensitive dog mom, offer extensive trainings and services, all while creating a fun experience for us and our dogs. After my experiences with Courtney and Alphonse I will never work with another training service. On top of their amazing credentials, they care so much about their clients. During an incident at a dog park where my dog was attacked by an outside dog, Alphonse put himself in the middle and got bit to protect our baby girl. After this incident, they have worked diligently to help our girl improve re-socialize with other dogs. If you need help with ANY behavior with your dog, K9 Positive Training is where to go!

Courtney is a very positive trainer that always goes out of her way to help me and my Service Dog in training. I learn lots of new things from her. If it weren't for her, I don't know what I would do since it is much harder than it seems to raise and train your own Service Dog. With Courtney at K9 Positive Training, we think finishing Kodak's training as a Service Dog is possible.

Mary K.

Courtney is a super dog trainer. Her skills in training were quite evident on her first visit with us. She is a good listener to all the problems and then she explains where to begin to ultimately have a positive outcome when all the training is complete. Be prepared to do some homework but you won't be disappointed with the results.

I was dogsitting my parent's 12 year old Yorkie, who demonstrated classic signs of fear aggression and was very territorial in the home. When we took him for walks he would bark and snap at other dogs on the path. On his first visit Mike brought treats and notepads for us to take notes, and he stopped our little yorkie's barking in its tracks and demonstrated immense patience. Our dog even bit him on their first meeting, but Mike didn't miss a beat! With his therapy dog Finn we worked through our dog's aggression. Finn was never out of control and was as patient as Mike with our dog. The dog that we currently have compared to the dog that we initially brought to Mike are as different as night and day! We only had four sessions with Mike, but he is able to socialize off-leash with other dogs now (he doesn't play with them, but he's able to just be around them, which is so much better than before). And when we walk him he's now able to greet other dogs without trying to bite them, so we no longer get scared every time we see another dog walking on the street. Lastly, our Yorkie used to drag his feet while walking, trying to sniff every little thing. After our first few meetings with Mike he showed us how to get our dog to walk at a better pace, and to follow us better. Walks that used to take us an hour now take us about 20 minutes! I highly recommend his training! Not only did he drive out early every Saturday, but he also never complained about Davis Square's parking situation.

Almost immediately we noticed a difference with Larry. Mike was able to calm Larry down around other dogs (specifically Mike's dog Finnegan) and people in the house. We learned tips for improving walks and for counteracting aggressive behavior. Mike identified pain points for Larrry (e.g., stomach issues) and offered suggestions for things we could do to improve Larry's stomach issues. Overall, we are extremely happy with Mike's work; we would recommend to anyone wishing to correct aggressive behavior and make for a happier dog.

It's hard to know who to choose when hiring any professional. I have an 8 month old German Shepherd, and after doing much research trainers, I decided to go with ACT K9. I was so impressed from the very beginning! During the evaluation, I met John and Lindsey and 2 of John's dogs. I have never met more trained dogs in my life. John's interaction with them was amazing. A week later we started training my dog, Sasha. After one lesson, she was already learning to heel. We have only had 2 lessons so far, but Sasha is already listening so much better. John and Lindsey really know what they're doing. The training is as much for me as it is for my dog. I'm so happy I chose them!!!

John has an objective eye and vast knowledge for training any and all dog types. He truly understands the relationship between a dog and their owner and during training he provides timely and constructive feedback. John helped both myself and my husband be more aware of our body language and how our mannerisms set the tone with how our dog reacts and empowered us to be the "alpha" dog so to speak in order to have a well balanced dog. Without hesitation we would recommend John as a qualified trainer. Beth and Scott D.

I rarely write reviews for businesses but it is my extreme pleasure to add a review for John Horan of ACTK9. John went above and beyond in training my dog Cooper. I could not be more please with the results of his work. I now have a wonderful dog who comes when called, downs, places, etc. I highly recommend John to everyone who wants the same results. He is a true professional. Thanks you John.

Rebecca has walked my puppy since I got her (October 2012 to June 2013 and not planning on stopping EVER!). My dog is 15 pounds but full of energy and behaves just like the puppy that she is. Rebecca is very reliable, her notes regarding activities of the day are always very helpful. She calls me if anything questionable is going on, has given me plenty of tips on what I could do differently when I am having issues, and treats my puppy like her own! I wish I could be home all day with my puppy but this is the next best thing :-) Also, per my request, Rebecca does allow my dog to walk with other (usually older dogs) and I do believe that this has improved my puppy's temperament.

We hired Rebecca to help us with our new boxer puppy and his behavioral issues. She taught us clicker training for reinforcement of positive behavior and negative punishment for addressing the behavioral issues. She arrived promptly for each training session and often sent helpful tips and videos after each session. She even helped us to find a group puppy class to help socialize him. We were glad to find her and recommend her for your individual puppy training needs.

We adopted a rescue dog 3 months ago. He is two years old and was a bundle of anxious energy. He became very attached to me and became jealous and reactive when my other dog or husband came near me. We signed up with Jess the 2nd week after he came to live with us. We met weekly for 6-7 weeks. Jess is an excellent trainer and was able to recognize his behavior right away. She listened to our concerns and has trained us to deal with an anxious reactive dog. He has made so much progress!! We had times when we weren’t sure if he was a good match for us. Jess gave us the confidence and taught us how to work with him to help him to be more calm and trusting. He is a great dog!! We love him. Thanks to Jess we feel we have been able to provide a good home for him and are so happy we met Jess when we did. We are going to continue to work with Jess and would highly recommend her!!

We were in search of a new dog walker to help us with our 2 year old golden. We never expected to meet such a reliable and professional person as Jess. She brings a lot to the table with her many years of experience working with animals. Our dog absolutely loves her (he rolled onto his back within minutes of meeting her which is not typical of him at all!). I would highly recommend Jess to anyone looking for someone passionate about helping owners and their animals.

Katy was so sweet to our new puppy Rylie. Even though we are not new puppy owners, it was so helpful to really understand how to control their behaviors from a young age. She was very patient when sharing information on proper techniques to practice on a daily basis. I would highly recommend a few of the trainings to be one on one so you can ask questions and she can see your dogs training opportunities for future training sessions.

I can't say enough good things about Nachwaechter German Shepherds. From the start Lindsay has been so informative and helpful. When it was time to pick a puppy she helped decided which one would best suit our lifestyle and he has been nothing but perfect. Her and John took him for their board and train program and he is so obedient and sweet. They were patient with us on learning all of his commands and followed up often and even took him back to further his training because they wanted him perfect for us. You guys have really been amazing and I can't thank you enough for being so supportive and accommodating to our individual needs. It's apparent your true love for the breed and thank you for all of your kindness and wisdom with my boy.

Amazing!! I couldn't be happier with the training my two shepherds recieved. They are wonderful off leash, I can bring them anywhere! I get compliments on how well they are trained all the time. If you want high quality training of your dog you've found the perfect place. I would and will take all my future dogs here. Titan (17 months when trained) and Layla (7 months when trained) are still well behaved and listen. Yet act like dogs, they still have their own personalities, that was no broken from them in training as some other trainers have done.

No bones about it. Chelsea is the pack leader. She trains dogs without treats & without the use of E-collares. I was blown away when on our second lesson she came into my house of 5 dogs & within 10 minutes all my bone heads were sitting down together QUIETLY and looking up at us. I would have never thought it possible never-ending in just 10 minutes. Then she proceeded to bring her service dog into my house without my dogs ever meeting him. They did not make a peep & sat to meet him. It was like the Twilight Zone. This can't be my dogs!@#? As dog parents, we tent to let a lot slip. We are not in control. We are not being the "PACK LEADER " This is hard for us but it is also confusing for our dog's. They have to know who is the boss. Chelsea will teach you that. Just remember, she can teach you the way, but you must become the "PACK LEADER " she can not do it for you. She will always be by your side but it is up to you to guide your dog down that path. Chelsea is the only person I would trust to do that with me.

I got connected to Conmon Sense K9 through social media. I was looking for a service dog for my daughter that would also be a good family dog. After corresponding with Chelsea several for weeks I made the decision to go forward with it. Chelsea came to our home to meet us m. She got to know us and what we were looking for and found us a perfect match-Georgia Belle. Chelsea then began working with us, training and coaching for obedience then trained for my daughter’s specific needs. It was not a one-size-fits all approach. A few months passed and I felt like I might want to get another dog, because our experience with Chelsea had been so amazing we decided to let her know so she could match us up again. Within a few weeks we got a call to meet a young female silver lab Silverado - “Rado”. Needless to say, we met her and took her home the same day. We had already arranged her first three training sessions with Common Sense K9. Our family is complete, thanks to Chelsea and Commin Sense K9.

Vera has been incredibly helpful for my dog, Nala, and me. She tailors her sessions to the people and dogs in her class, so everyone is getting their issues and needs met. She's big on 'meeting you where you are at" and helping you understand your dog so you are able to meet them where they are at. When she gives you feedback and suggestions, she is sensitive in her approach and you end up feeling more confident in your ability to train and interact with your dog, rather than feeling like you're a complete failure. You definitely have to put in your fair share of work outside of classes, and she checks in with you to see how you're progressing, which helps hold you accountable. Since beginning our work with Vera, I have noticed that Nala is calmer and looks to me more often for guidance. She responds more quickly when I correct her as well. Nala and I have more work to do but Vera has helped us get the ball rolling in the right direction. I highly recommend Vera for dog owners who want to have a more cooperative dog!

Michelle is absolutely terrific at what she does. My husband and I were in our late 50's when we got a puppy and thought we are crazy so we hired Michelle to work with us at our home. Vinny, his wife, and the rest of the staff at Paws Up are incredible. What’s great about this dog day care is they actually will work with the dogs instead of just leaving them to do whatever they want. There’s structure and my pitbull loves going.
