FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
It's not complicated. I meet with the customer and look at their home. I touch things to see dirt buildup and that is a good judge about how much the first time cleaning is going to cost. The first time clean is always more and then subsequent cleanings will not take as long as long as they have it done on a regular basis and the price usually goes down as long as it isn't as dirty the next time I come and so on. I figure in my gas, time and price of my cleaning products on average. If someone requests eco-friendly cleaning products they cost a bit more.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I added personal in home health care about 3 years ago and realized how much I loved it. I am planning on attending classes in January so that I may qualify to take the South Carolina Certification and become a Certified Nurses Assistant.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
A friend of mine owns her own cleaning business that does mostly commercial cleaning. She does some private homes and one of her workers couldn't work because of illness and she knew I was a good cleaner so she asked me if I could fill in. All around the home I saw things that needed to be done and when I asked her about these things she replied "oh I don't do that" and I thought well, when the homeowner gets home she will have to do these things. I got the idea that complete home care and cleaning would be a good idea and I started advertising in the local paper and got several responses and pretty soon I quit my computer job and started doing this full time in 2002.
