I am a retired Navy veteran and retired school teacher, living in Summerville, SC. I take great pleasure in meeting and sitting down with couples to plan their very special day. I enjoy listening to their story and experiences, their desires and wants than developing a ceremony specifically for them. I am a ordained minister and South Carolina Notary Public. I truly feel I have been called to this ministry and take great pride in doing the best job I can.
I enjoy meeting new couples and helping them establish a firm foundation to the beginning of the journey called marriage.

Kevin was an amazing Officiant. He was really great in writing a ceremony that really fit us. Everyone at our wedding was so impressed and really enjoyed our ceremony. I felt like the message was relevant but not cookie cutter either. I'm so glad we decided to work with Kevin! He really is the best!

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Kevin. From the beginning, he was a joy to work with as our weddingofficiant. He helped create a beautiful ceremony that fit our style and made sure to really get to know my husband and me prior to the wedding. He was always easy to get in touch with (via text, email, or zoom) and was extremely professional. He made sure that our wedding day was special and truly went above and beyond as our officiant. Right away I knew Kevin was going to be the perfect officiant for my upcoming wedding. He officiates because he enjoys it, not because he is trying to make a profit out of the wedding business. The ceremony options he put together were amazing. And even when my world came crashing down and my wedding was cancelled, he was understanding and did everything he could to help me during this difficult time in my life. Mr. Appleby was outstanding! My wife and I are from out of town and we found him on thumbtack and couldn’t be happier with our choice! We had a few zoom meetings to review the whole process, then again just to check in and see how things were going. He sent us reminder texts on important things not to forget, which was great. He was very responsive if we had any questions. At the rehearsal he did a great job walking us through the process of his part. On the big day he showed up early and looked great. Kevin is super personable and helped calm some of the day of jitters. Even though we didn’t know him prior to the wedding, it felt like we had a friend officiating our ceremony. The ceremony was flawless. He kept it meaningful yet fun per our request. We had several guests comment to us the following day about how good our officiant and ceremony was. If I could give him more than 5 stars I would.

We could not be more pleased with Rev. Appleby officiating the recent wedding of our daughter. In many ways, he exceeded our expectations. We knew exactly what liturgy (kind of service) we wanted; and sure enough, he had that particular liturgy on hand (as well as other types of liturgies from which to choose). He was well prepared, and made sure we were prepared as well: meeting with us (parents, bride-and-groom-to-be) informally, early on, just to get to know us; then leading a rehearsal the day prior to the wedding. The wedding ceremony was beautiful and readily flowed: all of us having been totally prepared, and at ease, and with confidence in him as an outstanding officiant. We highly recommend him, absolutely; he will do a superb job.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing includes rehearsal and as many texts, emails, and phone calls it takes to make your day perfect. I also include a custom made Certificate of Marriage, a copy of the wedding ceremony, and I mail the completed license and will provide a copy for you for your records.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to sit down and talk with couples about their wants and needs. What is it that they want in their ceremony. I like to find out a little bit about them and develop a ceremony around them, especially around their relationship. I find that if I can create a wedding ceremony specific to a couple, incorporate some of those special moments in their relationship, it is much more meaningful. We can do this either by text, email, Skype, traditional phone calls, or face to face meetings. Whatever it takes to create that special ceremony for that special day.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a Deacon and active member of the Church of Christ. I am an ordained wedding minister through the National Association of Christian Ministers and the United National Church. I am a member of the American Association of Wedding Officiates. I am also a commissioned Notary Public for the state of South Carolina and a member of the National Notary Association.
